Thnx TIG for trying to help me. Yesterday I installed sketchup the way you suggested, sitting on a couch using the touchpad. After doing so, I opened Sketchup to see whether the issue was solved and it seemed to be functioning the way it should, finally! To be sure, I connected the mouse to the laptop and once again I was experiencing the delay issue with shortcuts. So it wasn't Sketchup nor the hardware which was causing the delay, but it turned out to be the mouse! Since it was functioning fine otherwise, I never even considered the mouse to be the problem. After reinstalling the mouse driver the problem was finally solved. It's so simple if you know where to look.... ) So PROBLEM SOLVED! Thnx for helping!

Hello, I'm not sure your problem comes from the dynamic components, but rather from your surface estimator. You can purge the dynamic functions of all your dynamic components by saving your files in SKP6. The next time you open your file, your dynamic components will become simple components. So make sure you keep an original version of your file. You can then run a surface calculation that should work. See you soon. David

I'm familiar with Thea, I actually own a copy. I have not tried it since I now have compatible GPUs installed on my machine. Unity provides animation capabilities that neither Thea nor Octane can currently create in reasonable amount of time. And just in as important for my needs, you can output to a VR headset. I'll be sure and check out Thea soon. Thx!

well Dave R , once happy that I was able to recover my old versions functionality , I beated my fear ,... and installed the 2017 version again , ... AND now , everything ( all my old versions + 2017) is working fine . just to let you know . Thanks

thanks for the replies, I dug a little deeper and found out about the time thing and this link http://www.mediafire.com/file/brjzmnqzbcv38fp/RichSectionv0.5.8FULLByDimitri.zip: where a modified plugin can be found. Works in SU16 and seems pretty good although you can only have one material for the section cut. Trimble/Sketchup so needs to address this issue with sections in my view.
