    • Copy front material to back including uv mapping

      Hi there,

I'm looking for a plugin which can copy front face material to the back face, including the uv mapping. This would be helpful for stock models like trees and grasses. SketchUV and UV toolkit don't seem te have this feature. Does anyone know about another plugin with this feature?

    • Extension / tool for 3D roof tiling

      Hi there,

I'm lookiung for an extension for placing 3D-roof tiles. Something like AVIZ studiotools, roofs and tiles (http://www.avizstudio.com/tools/atiles/) which is only available for 3DS Max. Does anybody know whether there is such an extension (or something similar) available for SketchUp?

    • RE: Shortcut issue

Thnx TIG for trying to help me. Yesterday I installed sketchup the way you suggested, sitting on a couch using the touchpad. After doing so, I opened Sketchup to see whether the issue was solved and it seemed to be functioning the way it should, finally!

To be sure, I connected the mouse to the laptop and once again I was experiencing the delay issue with shortcuts. So it wasn't Sketchup nor the hardware which was causing the delay, but it turned out to be the mouse! Since it was functioning fine otherwise, I never even considered the mouse to be the problem. After reinstalling the mouse driver the problem was finally solved. It's so simple if you know where to look.... 😄)

So PROBLEM SOLVED! Thnx for helping!

Sorry for my late response. My brand new laptop was sent back to the manufacturer for repair. I decided to wait to see whether this would also resolve the delay issue. Unfortunately, I’m still experiencing the delay issue as I did before. It’s a strange phenomena. Once I hit a shortcutkey, the cursor icon changes immediately, Sketchup does respond to mouse movement, but doesn’t respond to mouse clicking for about 2 seconds.

I tried several other things as well:

      • First of all I decided to test whether GTX 1060 is functioning the way it should (the manufacturer claims it does) and whether SU is using the NVidia GTX 1060 card as it should and not the integrated Intel graphic card instaed.
I’ve used the Unigine Valley Benchmark to test the 1060 and it scores ok (as far as I can tell). Furhermore I did a FPS count while orbiting a huge SU-model using both (50MB, +1million polygons) the GTX 1060 and the Intel graphics card. The Intel card scored only 1-3 FPS while the GTX scored 30+ FPS. Considering both experiments, I would say the GTX is functioning correctly.
      • I've also experimented with various OpenGL settings: no improvements
      • Next I uninstalled all extensions. Once again, no improvements
      • Reinstalling SketchUp (as administrator) didn’t help either.
      • Last of all, I compared the performance of SU15 to SU17 on this machine. The performance is exactly the same. Both versions show the same delay.

Do you have any other suggestions? Any clue what might be causing the delay?

Is the title bar for the SketchUp window losing focus when you hit a key?

Place a floating toolbar in the model space. Does it vanish when you hit a key?

Nope, SketchUp doesn't loose focus, the toolbar did not vanish. It is really a delay. If I just wait for a second or two the activated tool functions as it should do. But the delay really shows me down because i use a lot of shortcuts. Any other suggestions?

    • RE: Shortcut issue

      Hi Tig,

I just found that there is a short delay after when activating any tool using a shortcut. So If I wait 1 or 2 seconds after using pressing the shortcut the activated tool (via a shortcut) does work immediately. But this still slows me down seriously. The question remains: why the delay?

I just upgraded my system seriously, so it's more than capable of dealing with SketchUp. That can't be the problem...

Do you (or does anyone) have any idea why there is a delay (only when using skortcutkeys)??

    • RE: Shortcut issue

      Hi Tig,

Thanks for trying to help me fix this issue. I've repaired SU2017 as you suggested, this however did not result in the desired outcome.

Let me give you an example of the issue i'm facing, just to clarify the issue:
If I for example select the paint bucket tool and subsequently click on a face, the face immediately changes color as it should do.
If i use (in my case) the letter B to activate the Paint Bucket Tool, then I have to click TWICE on the face before it changes color. It almost seems like the first click is for activating the SketchUp Window and only after doing so i can use the paint bucket tool as usual.
And this happens with every single tool I select. I'm wondering whether it is a Windows 10 Issue.

Do you any other suggestions? This additional clicking slows me down and it's really annoying as well.

      Kind Regards,
      Jan

    • Shortcut issue

      Hi there,

I switched from windows 7 to windows 10 and upgraded simultaneously form SU15 PRO to SU17PRO and now I'm facing a new issue. I usually use a lot of keyboard shortcuts to activate sketchup functions but this is not working properly anymore. After activating any function using a shortcut it is not working immediately but i've to click at least once somewhere in the modelling area before i can actually start using the function I've activated. Before those switches functions used to be activated immediately. These additional mouse clicks are really annoying to work with. And the strange thing is, if I select a function using a toolbar button it does work immediately.

Is anybody familiar with this issue? Does anybody know how to fix this?

      Thank you in advance.

      Kind Regards,

    • RE: Import textured models in SU 2015 Pro

Thanks for the explanation, TIG. Now I know what to look for if the model is not imported correctly. In this case, No Image-file was included in MTL-file of the model I tried to import.

Once again, thank you very much for the explanation.
