I used to use AutoCAD 3D, or 3Ds Max for modeling back then and when a friend asked me to use @lastSfotware (Su 2004), I was shocked that this was too simple to be a serious tool, it seemed like the "Paint".. Then I saw some cool models/renders and realised I know nothing about SU!

@waldessss Have you read the preceding posts in this thread which explain how to do this yourself... Also make sure you have the latest version of the SketchUcation tools installed as this has the newest licensing setup. Restart SketchUp after the installation[s] to sync everything...

why can't I upload the skp? Ok,so this upload issue is due to a recent update to our forum software. Seems to have affected everyone using this software so expect a fix next week. Until then non-standard file types like skp, obj, fbx etc are not supported until they publish a fix.

select 2 or more segmen line , use CLEANUP 3 , chose REPAIR EDGE. and BOOM!

pCon Planner can import any SU and export to any dwg version and vice-versa.

@lodiv76505 I stopped using Xeon, ECC ram and Quadro (whatever they call them now) based systems a long time ago. For normal CAD/3D use it's just not worth it.

@frascati I came here to find out how to form an elliptical cone, but didn't see a simple way. So I had to figure it out for myself. Yea, this is an old thread. I'm posting this here in the hope that someone else searching for the solution might find it. Draw a circle. Make a triangle with one point on the centre of the circle, one point on the edge, and the third point at the height you want the cone. Select the edge of the circle. Choose "Tools —> Follow Me" and click on the triangle's face. You should now have a circular cone. Choose "Tools —> Scale". A yellow box with green handles should appear. Click on the centre green handle on the vertical box of the selection that is in the dimension you want to make smaller to create your ellipse. Touch the modifier key that causes both sides to scale about the centre. On the Mac, that's the OPTion key. Move the cursor inward until you get the size of ellipse you want, or type a scale factor into the "Measurements" box. @Zuzana777 You should select the group containing the guide points, not launch TopoShaper inside the group.

Hey Jessica, I've had luck with both the cad formats dwg and dxf... IFC is probably the best option for SU to Revit though.. you have to create a project and import it in my experience and Revit handles it more like a family than a revit model.
