    I finally solved it!
It was a dodgy plugin/extension. I don't know which one, but luckily it wasn't one of the ones I use constantly. I probly had 50 old plugins from years ago that I've never used.

This only became clear when the Space Mouse in the trial version of SU24 stopped working after I had loaded a few Bundles of Extensions. So I did a clean re-install of SU24 and loaded my necessary plugins one by one. I stopped when I had everything I needed and all was good. Then back to SU19, I used the Extension Manager in SU to uninstall everything except the proven ones in SU24 and bingo, all is as it should be.

Note: Rich's suggestion of a 'Vanilla" install, (see above), did not work in my case, though I don't see why it wouldn't.

Cheers and Happy New Year to you all.

@fransko what stl file? If you are referring to the one for the clips I showed in my first post, no, I don't give away my model files. Sorry.

Just curious if you tried any of the suggestions above? Perhaps once you have the form you are looking to do a print of you can re-create a clean solid version in a new sketchup instance with the intent of 3d Printing it.

I would think most "Design Architects" would agree with the previous comments posted above regarding workflow.

Any chance you can post an example of a model you created so we could take a look at what your needs are?

Draw a 2D profile then use a circle and the FollowMe tool to lathe the shape you want.

Joint push pull is a tool in SketchUp that allows you to extrude or cut away a section of a 3D model by pushing or pulling it along a path. There could be several reasons why joint push pull might not be working properly. Here are a few possible explanations:

The path is not properly defined: In order to use joint push pull, you need to first define a path for the tool to follow. This can be a line, a curve, or a face. Make sure that the path you have selected is properly defined and closed, and that it is not self-intersecting.

The selection is not properly defined: Joint push pull only works on a single, contiguous selection of faces. Make sure that you have only selected the faces that you want to extrude or cut away, and that there are no gaps or holes in your selection.

The model is not properly oriented: Joint push pull works best when the model is oriented in a way that allows the tool to push or pull along a straight line. If the model is oriented at an angle, it may be difficult to get the tool to work properly. Try rotating the model or adjusting the path to make it more straightforward.

There are intersecting faces: If there are faces that intersect with each other in your model, joint push pull may not work properly. Try using the "Erase" tool to remove any intersecting faces before using joint push pull.

There is a problem with the software: If none of these suggestions help, it is possible that there is a problem with the software itself. In this case, try restarting SketchUp or reinstalling the software to see if that fixes the issue.

It does not happen by itself, nor is it performed by someone who is paid to do so. I'm aware that this is a Sketchup Team plugin, but I'm not going to comment on that. eggy car

From memory there was a bug, I hesitate to use the word, that caused some systems to lock to 2019. The simplest way back then was to uninstall 2019 and then it would recognise the newer versions properly.
But if you have got it to work then all is good.

I'm assuming it had something to do with layers.

Most likely that is the case. In LayOut layer order is important. You should create a layer for dimensions that is closer to the top of the layer list than the layer(s) on which the viewports are placed.
