I am wondering if some little gimmick like a mouseover/flyout show credit could work. Of course this may not be the format you are using. That is more like a webpage thing. In the real print world you just provide a Footnote and Bibliography.

I only use my dwg files as a reference. I never pull faces from those lines. I always draw over the dwg files. Sure it adds extra work but for me it saves time as I have a much cleaner model.

Hey, I also use SU primarily for exhibition design work, so hope this may be useful. For rendering I use Thea, which I've found offers the best balance between quality and speed in a deadline-driven environment. As for drafting, it really depends on the level you need. For knocking out some quickly dimensioned elevations, Layout does the job, but for drafting from-scratch, I found it way too laborious (I do accept this may be my shortcoming, not SketchUp's). For 2D drafting, I've moved over to NanoCad, which has a VERY Autocad-like interface, and more importantly is FREE, for the basic version which does everything I need. Between SU, Thea and NanoCad, I think I've got it covered cheers, A

The Plugin Store installs plugins to the correct directory based on the operating system and SU version and, importantly, maintains the correct file structure which historically has been difficult for many people to do manually. Read any of the long threads in the Plugins forum for proof of that. With SU2014 the correct location to be putting plugins is under Users/App Data. The beauty of this is that you don't need to be concerned with the location because it is handled autmoatically The Extension Warehouse does the same sort of thing. Of course with the Plugin Store plugin there's a number of tools for managing the plugins once you have installed them but first things first.

Hi Patrick - welcome! protolabs FAQ[1] says they accept .stl file also. Have you tried that format? You can get the .stl extension from the Extension Warehouse from in SketchUp. Your model will likely need to be a "solid" for best results. [1] http://www.protolabs.com/resources/molding-and-machining-faq

I can't draw any lines that disappear by themselfs. Neither outside nor inside group's environment. b.t.w. your drawing axes are upside down. Right click on one to reset them. Not that I think that this makes any difference in the "vanishing edges" issue.

are all your plugins the latest version? v2014 uses Ruby 2, ANY old plugins may break... if they are all fresh downloads with v2014 compatibility, on a mac the first suspect will be a renderer. [any breed] john

BVox beat me ! Look at the Style set for the view. Edit it... 'Edge Settings'... It probably has 'Back Edges' ticked ? Un-tick that. Also un-tick 'Extensions' and 'Endpoints' if they are set too... Also, if you have not given external-walls a proper thickness then that can also lead to edges bleeding through...

@dave r said: With Mac there's a native option. With the PC there isn't but ThomThom's Export 2D With Alpha will do it if you export PNG files. JPGs don't support transparency. Thanks Dave - does EXACTLY what I want. This should be a standard part of SU (IMHO).

Do a google search on "Rocksolver" This is a plugin, but I cannot tell if it has a price or it is free. I did not search too far.
