@jerrymich said: So, the new sketchup plugins folder should be empty? Not quite empty. There are some plugins whose names start with "su" that should be in there. They are packed with SketchUp. If you delete the folder altogether or empty it, SketchUp will repopulate it with those plugins the next time it starts. Bear in mind, this Plugins folder is the one under User/AppData... that's the only Plugins folder you should be messing with. If you let the Sketchucation Plugin Store and Extension Warehouse handle installing plugins, you shouldn't really have any need to go to that folder directly.

There are several tools that will reform a set of linked edges, arcs or curves into a single 'curve' entity. The original oldie 'weld' is available from Smustard.com [with several prompts as it processes the selection] Several other tools have something similar as part of a broader toolset... My own "TIG-weld" is available in the SCF PluginStore - it just does the one prompt-free 'welding' job on suitable preselected line/curve sets. http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=TIG-weld

Jeff used the standard intersection (right click menu), not the solid tools.

@lamandrion said: Hello, is it possible to do this with one operation? Input: 3 Lines (Top, Ground, Profile) not really.. how are you going to get the ground curve drawn properly as the tranny is changing? that's the hardest part. it's best to do it in sections. I know a few tricks to maybe speed things up for you (for things like a waterfall through a rounded hip etc) but I really wouldn't recommend trying the approach you're showing in sketchup. in rhino, you have a good chance at drawing the coping then different profiles at key depth changes but that doesn't work out too well in sketchup.

Hi David you probably sorted the concept out by now however if not... Each group or component has its own origin axis, usually left bottom side. If you right click on the axis you can change its position, but at this point, probably best to leave it. if you double click to open a group/component within a group/component you will likely notice a shape defined axis and a dull smaller axis. This gives an idea of the relationship between the two objects. The formulas and process is similar to a spreadsheet application, you can click the cells in to build the relationships rafter than typing I find it convenient to build an object with known size and positions then figure first the lengths and then the positions Philip [image: ogFx_toggleformulaview.JPG] [image: zYFa_axis.JPG] fixed glass

Depending on your render software you could use a proxy instead.

No. But you could open it in Revit and export it in other formats... like DXF... which are then importable into SketchUp. There are thousands of file formats, and many of them are specific to one application. To hope that a certain file format might be usable in another application without some translation is a hope too far...

The way you did it will work, but ONLY if there is just 1 instance of the component. Where there are component copies, and you try to redefine the exploded elements (of one copy) as a component again, using the same name, it will become a unique component, with the desired new t-nail view. The other copies will belong to the "original" comp. and will retain the old t-nail view.

Hi: An .rb is the filename extension for a Ruby script. Ruby is a high level scripting language used for Sketchup to automate repetitive, or multiple operations to achieve a modeling purpose. How to install on a Mac can be found here for a start: http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/38583

Thanks Cotty. I did try changing the face styles. The style of the model did change but not for what was already colored. I made a model outside the group and the default colors applied. But I don't understand why I cannot paint the default color back to the colored surfaces. I did it before plenty of times. Sometimes it is necessary when working with the UV plugins. I will try and remember about the monochrome view. Thanks again.

@kaas said: Just did a quick google search and maybe you should try: In SketchUp, import the Geo Location you are interested in. Then go to Window---->Components. Click the pulldown menu to the left of the search bar. Choose "nearby models". A list of available buildings near your location will appear. Click on any to import to your model file in SketchUp. Thanks for tip. It seems the resolution is so bad as to be unusable. is there a way to get beyond default resolution? Also, only one building to import. Dang...

if you have the perimeter of the plat you can push pull it up as a face and then intersect out the excess.
