Hi folks. Yes, the double click to repeat a push/pull operation is easy but, when the number of faces get beyond 20, it begin to get less efficient. My trick, shown in the skp file of my previous post will work with 1000 shapes as fast as with 10. Just ideas.

If all you actually want is a 'flat' 2d object made from lines and true arcs/circles, then you need to copy your SKP, then edit it - looking 'edge on' using a selection by fence, so the unwanted faceted 'sides' etc, and top face of the form can be deleted. Now you should have a 'flat' 2d set of geometry. If your cutter doesn't need faces you can delete those too. Now you should have a set of lines, arcs and circles. Export those as the 3d DXF and you should then just get the paths you want... Do not use a 2d DXF as that does NOT keep arcs/circles but makes them out of segments...

The entities that made up the initial component would most likely be part of a larger structure, and not fully standalone. Exploding the comp puts the entities back in place so to speak. But if it were a standalone object, then yes, there would be no need to explode it.

So it's been a couple months since last reply and I was wanting some recent feedback on the app. I was given an iTunes gift card and since SU is my passion just wondered what others thought of it. PS Most of the reviews at the App store seem to point to the 3d warehouse being the only way to view models. This is not a problem in my case as I only want to view my models for clients. The App store page doesn't say much about the use of scenes to navigate with in the model any experience there?

Please search on sketchucation for a plugin which make sketchup layer transform to sketchup materials. Revit export .dwg and generate layers like Wall, Glas, Frame ...These layers remain when import to sketchup. That will help you quickly paint the whole model in the first step.

This is a 'clipping issue' - it's well documented. Change between Perspective/Parallel Cameras to fix it. It's usually caused by having some loose geometry miles from the model's origin ? Or a component with its origin miles from its geometry. Especially noticeable in CAD imports where you have perhaps kept the origin ? Test to see what it is... Model Info > Statistics > Purge unused & Fix problems. Switch all Layers ON and View > Hidden Geometry ON If you Select All [Edit] and use Entity info it gives a count. Zoom out so you can see everything you expect to be in that selection... Now use Select with a fence holding Ctrl+Shift to remove those items from the selection. Are there still items in the Entity Info list ? Try to establish what they are. You can probably hit Delete and remove them and the clipping should stop. If you think it's a component origin issue... Model Info > Components > tick Show Component Axes... If any component-instances have issues use the context-menu to Change Axes to something more logical...

One simple way of looking at orbit and zoom control is to remember that SU uses the position of the cursor to work from. So if you start to orbit with the cursor on the object it will orbit around that point, however if you orbit with the cursor next to the object and therefore pointing at a non specific point in the distance it will orbit around that point therefore throwing your object out of view with only a small movement.

You might try component spray by Didier Bur, I believe. Not sure if it has been updated. There may be other similar plugins.

Because the faces inside the group already have a color. Change them back to Default material then color the group. Usually I don't color groups, but the faces inside. Your faces in the tall group are backwards (blue pointing out). You can select them all and choose context menu "reverse faces".

@unknownuser said: You may have to temporarily paste in place a copy of the other component into your component while adjusting its textures.nen Yeah, that is what I was doing. Pasting a component or just one of the faces with a texture on it inside the group I have selected. Not a bad alternative, but just wondering if this was an option. Thanks!

Thanks. That makes sense. If it was anything significant it would be more obvious.

Even easier than the Scale tool for this is the Tape Measure tool. If, in the case of the cube, you know you want it to be 75", measure from one corner to the other making sure to click on it both corners. Then type 75 and hit Enter. If you only want to resize the group or component in question, open it for editing, first. To the OP, in the case of resizing the lattice, is it all dimensions that need to be changed or just the overall size? It sounds to me as if the slats are probably the correct size and you only want to change the outside dimensions. In the case, scaling is absolutely the wrong tool to use. Instead, it sounds like you need to cut the lattice down to size. In the case you can draw a cutting plane at the correct location and use it to trim the slats. Without seeing the lattice model it's difficult to give more instructions but one consideration, depending on how the lattice is designed is that you may want to trim away some on both sides to keep things centered.

Hi. It may be that you have not provided enough information for anyone viewing your thread in this forum to start with. There could be many reasons why you cannot run the application. It would be helpful also, to fill out your user profile, so that those who can help will have some information to go on. It appears that you have submitted a Bugsplat report, and, perhaps someone from that group will contact you. But that report goes to Trimble for analysis.
