The Ghost is Back!

I get this from time to time. In the screenshot, I have just reloaded a component that happens to be the roof. An odd looking ghost of the roof components is appearing at the driveway.
I have both the roof file and the house file open at this point.
This artifact will go away when I close the file and open again. So of course changing OpenGl settings doesn't tell me anything. Am I missing something about loading components from file or working with multiple files?
I haven't seen this become a problem with the files in the end. Might it? It can be a hassle on some projects if I have to close and re-open the file too often.

I see it from time to time too. No idea what causes it and doesn't seem to cause any issues. Sometimes if I copy and paste everything into a new file it doesn't happen again. The ghost never seems to cause any further problems with the model.
