    BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

    If you put the earlier component in a component library, you can select the component in the model and then right click on the earlier version in its library and choose Replace Selected. If the component axis origin is in the same relative place in both components, the substitution will put the earlier component in exactly the same spot and the one you are replacing.

    @ODM: Thank you for your reply. Yes, it is understood that with the right hardware there should be minimal problems with the program. But inherent in the program(s) are limitations that cause display problems such as clipping, which can happen when geometry is created sufficiently far from 0,0,0 or when geometry is created sufficiently small enough, or when there is a significant amount of geometry. Knowing all of this from many discussions in this forum by others has not answered what the thresholds really are. Maybe I need to read some more in OpenGL pages. Perhaps the information is there and I have overlooked it.

    If it is a wood frame, no way in solid works, wood is anisotropic... But you could evaluate any metalic part easily.

    here's the code: Sketchup.active_model.active_view.camera.aspect_ratio=0.0 copy/past that into the ruby console (Window -> Ruby Console) and press return.. try exporting again..

    Take a look at SpaceDesign from Render Plus. It should do everything you need. If it doesn't, let us know what we need to add. It is not free. But if you want a nice report with costs, extended costs, totals, etc. This is the tool for you.
