Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

So far, RoundCorner seems the be the biggest crasher for me with VR 1.6. I just work with it disabled until they find the bug that's causing it. They are working on it feverishly.

I'm not sure what you mean by the position is altered but it sounds like you've got it now. Just in case, here's an anaolgy. When you make a component it's kind of like wrapping the selection in clear cling wrap. Think of a sandwich wrapped in cellophane. If you want to make a change to the sandwich you have to open the wrapper. In the same way, if you want to edit a component, you have to open its wrapper first. Now, if you have two individually wrapped sandwich components and wrap them in another piece of cling wrap, you have a nested component like the Shapes component in my example. If you want to wrap a pickle (the cylinder) up with the sandwiches, you have to take the pickle from where it is and place it inside the wrapper. In SketchUp Edit>Cut and Edit>Paste in place do that. So does grabbing the pickle and dragging it over the sandwiches in Outliner. Outliner is opening the wrapper automatically when you hover over it's name and it highlights. And of course because the wrapper containing the two sandwiches is a component all other copies of it get the pickle, too. All of this can be confusing until you have a really good picture of what's happening. Then you'll find it is all incredibly powerful.

sometimes a pdf doesn't contain real vector lines but an image of vector lines instead. Maybe that's why the conversion generates 2 files and you get the error. If that's the case you can try some image2xdf programs or trace them by hand.

Kentucky, I export to dwg regularly. The difference is that I am looking for a 3D model in Autocad (I export to 3D). If your parts are groups, solid groups or components, they will come into Autocad as blocks. Unfortunately, each piece will be its own block. Not really what you want. I'm not sure that what you want to do is achievable. Kris

You could always import it as a background watermark and try to manually match a camera view to it. Not sure if the perspective would work for match photo scene.

Was this the link that you are thinking of? http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=49686 I have the original prototype flying and I am now finishing up the second prototype with changes. Here are some photos of some of my buddies test flying the prototype in Cincinnati, Ohio. yup, my bad. actually, I did update most plugins and unloaded a whole bunch I never used... but it is odd that friday, before M, I was doing fine, hého, mine is not to reason why ! BTW 2013 is otherwise a great improvement & Layout has become usable without driving me back to smoking ! (the previous versions were so slow that I nearly started nicotine again & went back to bricscad instead) & no, I still have the same machine as before, so i imagine that on a super-duper machine with a vavavoom graphics card it would be even better. thanks

Nice drawing. Wonder if turning it into SU edges is of use. How do you intend to use it? could it be better used as a texture or in post-pro? I assume you aren't going to make it 3d...

@box said: Does revizto have this capability. Simply put, can I use your excellent program as a way of viewing and manipulating models on an Android Tablet. Revizto Using Android or iOS you need to download our free vewer from App Store or Google play. This vewer is working with local projects on your tablet, downloaded diectly from Revizto gallery onto your tablet. You may view and navigate your scene. At any time you may connect your tablet to internet(Revizto) and using your 3D scene set new markers with comments, sync with cloud - other members of your team or your customer will see these markers as well, even they would connect later or connected in real time. Using tablets you will see the scene with almost the same quality like I posted above, however theare still present some limits due to limited power of tablets. Currently the main limit for Android and iOS is the size and complexity of project (as well as how accurate it was done in SU in terms of 3D modeling culture). There are not web viewers for Android or iOS devices. Revizto web viewer is working only for PC or Mac.

Some good suggestions, thank you all very much. I will try following up to see what works best in my situation, although I feel I will end up with a laser level and quite a few batens hammered into the ground to pick up levels from.

TIG is right of course but With Dynamic Components you can do almost everything you want to do. Try opening the Dynamic Components toolbar, (view > toolbars > dynamic components) select the hand (interact tool) and click on the guy that shows up when you open Sketchup 2013 (Derrick). Then go activate view > hidden geometry and click with the interact tool again and see what happens. Insert some more Dynamic Components from the component browser. Insert some more DC's from the Google Warehouse. Search about DC's here or at Sketchup website. Try a lot, fail a lot and you'll succeed! Best regards, JQL

PipeDraft, Yes, it Bugsplats before I launch anything. In fact, it Bugsplats as soon as Sketchup opens and the toolbars show up. And no, I do not have any of the quarantined plugins installed. I will try it again later and report back. Thank You, Paul

Just had a complete evaporation from using the explode command so I think there is more than meets the eye going on here. I will try the test you described on sunday when I am no longer tearing my hair out. Pain in the proverbial. V8 is the vanilla of choice now and this is going poof too so the model itself may have some gremlins in the drivers seat I suppose. Sod.

@tig said: Have you got the Units of the exported dwg and then matched them in the Imported geometry - set in the Import 'Options' sub-dialog in SketchUp ? Measure something in the imported geometry using the Tapemeasure tool and see if it's the size you expect... For example, if you have jumbled up m & mm the SKP components might be 1000x or 1/1000 of the mis-sized imported geometry - thus making you think that the components are not adding but they are either so big or so small you can't see them Also check your imported geometry's origin is set NOT to be the CAD origin [again set in Options], otherwise the imported geometry could be located many miles from [0,0,0] and thereby cause graphics glitches etc in SketchUp too... Oh snap. So that's where I went wrong. Thank you so much. I rescaled my door and it automatically rescaled the building too. You were right, the components were too small.

Ok. I have some updates. The block shadows does not appear when I select "Standard" Print Quality under the Print Preview dialog box. Shadows appear when I select "High Definition" or "Ultrahigh Definition". Currently I am sending my print output to a Canon Pixma iX4000 on A3+ glossy Canon paper. All sketchup models with complexity of this drawing level display the shadow problems on the Core i7 PC. Simpler models goes through ok "most" times. My thoughts are, once the cpu/gpu has successfully sent the high res print output to the printer, video should not be affected on the display. They almost use different paths altogether. Most times, the block shadows are very stubborn and I could be toggling the texture faces/shadows on/off for like 10 mins before it returns to normal. I have to do this and hope it reverts back to normal. Off Shadows, switch to hidden lines face texture, then switch to shaded with textures. And repeat after trying shadow on. Included one of my older models. Just tried and voila. Printed on high definition. [image: A5hM_photo1.JPG] [image: csww_photo2.JPG]
