    • RE: New Plugin for Piping: Pipedraft

      Thanks, iantyson!

There's even more content available for PipeDraft (Professional or Enterprise Edition) subscribers. Check-out our updated feature comparison page.

We have tens of thousands of piping components in our catalogs. And we frequently add new components, all dimensioned according to industry standards and manufacturer data sheets. These include: ANSI (ASME) B16.5, B16.9, B16.10, B16.11, B16.20, B16.36, B16.48, B36.10M, MSS SP-97, Apollo, Armstrong, Bonney Forge, Cameron, Crane, Ladish, Love Controls, Mueller, OMB, Spirax Sarco, and Taylor Forge.

Since the catalogs are hosted in our Cloud service, all paid subscribers have instant access to all the additional catalog content on-demand without updating anything or downloading any new files.

      Have fun!

      Hi Paul,

      @unknownuser said:

...when I opened Sketchup it would immediately Bugsplat.

Does SketchUp bugsplat before you try to launch ANY plugins/extensions? If not, what plugins are listed in your plugins menu before it bugsplats?

Do you have any of the quarantined plugins installed?

      Let me know.

      Hi Ken,

What version of Windows and SketchUp are you using?

Did you install the extension using SU's built-in methods?

      1. Preferences> Extensions > Install Extension...

      2. Then select the rbz file, etc.

Once installed, you should see PipeDraft as an option in your Plugin menu in your toolbar as shown in this snapshot:

      Let me know.

      FollowUp:

We are very pleased to announce the first public release of PipeDraft – a cloud-based and spec-driven piping plug-in for SketchUp. For more information visit the product web site: www.pipedraft.com

We are especially grateful to the sketchUcation team for hosting the beta test forum and to all the volunteers that helped us test the product and provide us with valuable feedback for both this release and future releases.

On behalf of the entire PipeDraft project team, THANKS everyone! πŸ‘

That's very interesting – some years ago I considered interfacing a UT inspection data management system (I think it was called "UltraPipe") with a 3D piping CAD model. The concept was never implemented as most people were still working in a 2D world back then. The idea may have been ahead of it's time, but with 3D more common-place now perhaps there's a potential audience for such an interface. πŸ‘

    • Piping Plug-In Beta Test Volunteers Needed

The development of a new cloud-based and spec-driven 3D piping plug-in for SketchUp is nearing completion for its first public release. We would like to work with a limited group of volunteers willing to try the product and influence the development of future releases.

Do most of these statements describe you?

      • I like trying new solutions and providing constructive feedback.
      • I understand the piping industry and know the meaning of Β“spec-driven.Β”
      • I am familiar with the most effective ways to model large projects in SketchUp.
      • I have used other 3D piping solutions on other platforms.
      • I use SketchUp on a Mac computer, particularly OS X 10.8.

If you have qualities in common with these statements, then we'd like you to join our beta test program! You can apply for an invitation at:http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9VMP3GM
EDIT: All beta volunteer positions have been filled, 15-Apr-2013.

We will try to accommodate as many volunteers as possible, but we may need to limit the number of active participants.

The sketchUcation team has graciously offered to host a private forum for our beta test program. If you are selected you will have access to the private forum containing instructions on how to download the plug-in as well as participate in discussions with fellow volunteers.

We learn a lot from our volunteers and hope you will be able to participate. Don't forget to apply!
