You got me curious!
Photogrametry?
I just stumbled upon this thread.
I'm really sorry you lost you job Jan!
You sure are one heck of an illustrator, be it 3D or 2D. These are amazing, I'd love to purchase your books for my kids! Let us know when they get published
Just so you know, it's easier for SketchUp to handle a lot of raw geometry (many faces in the same context), than a lot of groups/components.
Having a lot of raw geometry will make the file bigger and less editable, but it will be much faster to display.

I need to convert the FBX trees with Transmurt to Sketchup then since they are HUUUUGE I open the file once (between 1 to 4 GB) and I convert them to PROXY and add them on my library in Vray.
As you use Transmutr, you can export then directly as V-Ray proxies: https://help.transmutr.com/manual/geometry-tab/proxies

not so dangerous this time
These three factors make it quite dangerous indeed!

Then we wouldn't probably need Transmutr, which is an expensive tool.
I don't know how expensive this tool is, but as far as I saw, this doesn't supports quads from other modeling pakages.
If it does, I would pay for it no problem at all. Now. The "shut up and take my moneys!" style.
It is planned for a future Transmutr version
It's a bit tricky to do, but I believe it's possible.
I don't have an ETA, though. For now we are focused on Skatter v2.

Interesting how this is somehow "discovered" and only makes it "out there" AFTER clipping plane was released...
The "Force" checkbox was added in SketchUp 2017. We've known since then.
The issue is that it is not exposed in the Ruby API, so no extension could leverage it.
I guess Daniel Tal's extension simply found a hacky way to check this box automatically, but simulating clicks or something like that. This is probably the reason it is only available on Windows.

Famous plugins like Artisan and Skatter are using C:\ProgramData. This isn't a problem.
For Skatter, we use ProgramData only for the initial install, not for temp files.
