Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, i can not use DOM parser to do xml parsing. [edit] I have used the libxml and its performance is good enough for me. I setup the old version libxml and copy the ruby files, dll to plugin folder of sketchup, it works for me.

Yes, the tick box is tickable on Mac but not on PC. Since it doesn't seem to do anything it might as well be grayed out. Maybe it's a combination. Click it three times while in Monochrome, twice while in Hidden Line, Switch to X-ray, Switch back to Hidden Line, tick the box again... I doubt it though. I think it is either a bug or a shortcoming of OpenGL.

Deleting the podium walker file worked - I am a commercial Architect and I have trusted sketch up since version 3, you address me as frustrated, in your view unduly, however, I didn't expect to learn the inner workings of my O.S to keep shoddy programs working and the answer I received was 3 hours later in which time I had missed my clients and could not open my files. Podium forum is renowned for non answered posts that's why I posted here. Your remarks where the next day ! I've now learnt to delete and re-install plug ins and delete and re-install Sketch - up and generally be cautious with any ruby scripts because you never know which one is going to continually cause problems - that's fine, it doesn't mention that in the sales pitch funnily enough and I urge anyone who has commercial responsibilities to think twice before installing walker and any ruby unless you know how to get back to the basic program.

Thanks again for the suggestions. I had a chance to clear the cache and update flash and all seems good there but the issue is persisting. Thanks again for your thoughts, I welcome any ideas to help potentially resolve this. Chad [image: 8CDl_geolocatewhitedialogbox.jpg]

If you have the latest SketchUp [version 8 or 2013], then under the menu item, Window > Preferences > Extensions you will have an 'Install from archive' button. That will install the contents of the selected RBZ file for you. Alternatively use that button to install the 'SketchUcation Plugin Store' Toolset [there are links in the Resources menu]... after that, then that tool will work within SketchUp itself, and it can download and auto-install plugins for you... as well as do many other useful things like managing plugins and extensions...

Free vector file STL & OBJ exporters work on Free/Make... BUT these are NOT importable into Inkscape There might be a free SVG exporter which would then be importable into Inkscape ? http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=52949 http://code.google.com/p/sketchup-svg-outline-plugin/ etc ?? Or you could perhaps print out from the SKP as a PDF... Then import that into Inkscape ?

Every journey begins with the first step, and it's the trip, not the destination. Homilies aside, show us some photos, you might be able to generate some enthusiasm, and once you start you will receive great encouragement and help if you need it from this forum. Baz

By the way, for all the punters... I ended up using Fetchapp. It works quite well. Apparently hosting a downloadable sellable SU model on your own site is a complicated HTML coding exercise, so I didn't go down that path. Even more baffling is trying to set up the unfathomable Paypal Digital Downloads account. (Paypal need to lift their game with the user-interface of their products. For a company of that size,.. what they give you to work with is just woeful) Anyway Fetchapp, different story, very easy to use. They host your model for $5 a month. No other fees. You can easily create a standard Paypal Button that links your Paypal account to your website. FetchApp provide the HTML code, you copy and past it into your website program (I used Muse). I'll let you know if it works if I ever sell anything

First place I would check would be your export options dialog box to make sure the settings are similar in 13 to what you had been using in 8. If this doesn't fix the export, then you might check to see if the lines are really not there as sometimes their color properties in autocad match the color of your screen background and it looks like the drawing is empty. Try opening your empty drawing in autocad and doing a select all. you will quickly see in the dialog box how many entities it has found. next type in properties from the command prompt and change the color properties to a different color and see if that lights them up. best wishes, Chad

@scott216 said: I tried the same file on other computers and it's fine. Something is up this my one computer. I upgraded to Sketchup Make and it works fine with thiat. possibly a corrupted .plist (or whatever the windows equivalent may be called) ? you could maybe try a 'reset workspace' to see if it jars the entity info panel into proper behavior (preferences->workspace->reset workspace) ? does it do the same thing in the measurement box or with dimensions?

Apologies for the overlapping tiles. After experimenting with the various approaches, it appears to me that trimming instances of tiles components with the Solid Tools Trim tool may be the quickest method overall. My thinking has evolved over this thread and I now see the value of having solid tiles. For one, they look much better, and they save space. Now that I know the Trim tool makes trimmed components unique, saving what I thought was an extra step,I find it relatively easy to step through and trim each tile. Zorro2 is a great tool and will very quickly trim groups of tile components, making each one unique as it does so, but it leaves the trimmed edges without a face. This is fine in many cases, but when you want a face, it takes time to edit each component to replace it. That said, there's a place for each method.

I'm interested. My child (12 yrs old) is a big Maker Faire fan so we tend to go every year. Last year I felt the fair was a bit inundated with 3D printers - all great but all pretty much the same. Maybe the rage for those things will have passed a bit by now.

Yes, I've been trying that myself. Further investigation has shown that is I set the scene manager to 'detail' (previously it was set to 'list') this seems to work. However, the files already effected by the problem will not re-open (the position they were last saved at being a view with complex shadows). At present we think it could be a clash with other software. I am continuing with the project re-building from a previous model (I'll lose about 5 hours work) with these new settings & save, save, save! In the mean time, if anyone has any other suggestions...
