More than 20years ago I built a scale model of our local GNR(I) railway station, the project became so bit I had to abandon it as I had no storage space. Having recently observed some of the modelling capabilities of SketchUp, can I ask if acceptable results can be achieved if I were to import pictures of the same station into SU8 and build the entire layout using PhotoMatch?

Certainly feasable, but will largely depend on the photos, P/match likes 'nice' perspectives with near equal vanishing point angles. It also likes 90degree corners or it gets a bit confused.

I have found that trying to merge different views with your model can often be a problem, IE: 'left/front' view is often hard to align with 'right/front view.

But if you take photos with P/match specifically in mind you can get great results.

This is often a matter of not changing the focal length and keeping your distance/height etc. from the subject consistent.

How about uploading a couple of representative shots for evaluation?
Also are you able to re-shoot for P/match if necessary?

Unfortunately, the station is long gone (1965) so I will be relying on a large collection of old photographs I have in my collection. Is it going to worth the hassle?

Every journey begins with the first step, and it's the trip, not the destination.

Homilies aside, show us some photos, you might be able to generate some enthusiasm, and once you start you will receive great encouragement and help if you need it from this forum.
