Bob, as we discussed last night, you can test the gluing properties of your components after you've changed them by inserting a new instance of the component in your model. Also, as I tried to tell you before our connection was cut, I don't think gluing is going to solve the "instability" issue you've been experiencing. That's not what SketchUp's gluing is for. Gluing is used as an aid for positioning components on faces but it doesn't prevent them from being moved after they've been placed. For that you need to lock them or at least avoid them with the Move and/or Rotate tools. As I told you last night when we were chatting, I would like to help you sort out what is happening in your drawing process that causes what you describe as instability. I'm convinced there's something fairly fundamental that can be fixed.

@andyg said: I dont know about length tho. Ideally, i would like to just draw lines on a layer, and then have SU sum up the lengths of all the lines on this specific layer. What would also be nice, if i could somehow highlight the all the lines on this layer, to visually check if i didnt forget any parts in the model. Anyone knows how to do this? Regards, Andy If you look ½ way down this page http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23991, TIG wrote me a script to add up hedge lengths from a separate line layer I was doing in the drawing - would that work for you?

This is happening to me and it's not permissions. Will save a file have worked on for days and I get a message file doesn't exist. This will happen in a sessions that I already saved the file a few times. Have to use save as. Then I see file 0.skp, 1.skp, .... Eventually saves. Sometime I keep trying and it works. Thought it was only imported files but now happeneng to some of my old files. Then thought it was because I was saving while rendering but that was it either.

@dave r said: Well, I can't help you with the automatic replacement when you open the master file. As I told you in my last PM, I do almost all of my drawing and editing in situ and this is one of the reasons. Maybe it would be possible for a plugin to automate the replacement of components but I'm not the guy for that. Alright, thx for the effort anyway!

@bob-designer said: I have reviewed all the imformation provided and fail to see anything that indicates how to change the "Glue to" condition from "none" and make it possible to select horizontal, vertical, any or sloped glue to condition..... The components browser lets you change properties to 'Glue to' etc. This is for instances not yet in the model. Existing 'In Model' unglued instances will not change their current unglued situation. Not that useful to you, I guess. Try both next plugins. I'm not sure if ThomThom's plugin does that job to components in the model, but if I'm not mistaken, TIG's plugin changes unglued instances in use. I don't have them installed. ThomThom’s Component properties plugin: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35667 Tig’s Reglue plugin: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=39566

what kind of model did you submit to the 3D Warehouse? Is this for Google Earth? If so, perhaps you ought to contact the Google Earth folks instead.

@box said: Taking what Ken is saying ones step further would be exporting your toolbar setup to load on another computer. Or as part of different setups, as with the new "sets" in the SU store plugin. +1 That would be ideal for people using both work and home computers.

Managed to retrieve it thanks, although I don't have a 'virtual store' as such, but I looked in AppData and searched the folders there. Still strange though, as to why it had been placed there. I have created other component folders since and they all appear. My understanding is that Windows uses virtualisation when the software creating the file is deemed to be not up to par?

I just noticed something strange. I just copied my kmz to a new folder that did not have the image folder as a sub-folder and it no longer displays the images. Can someone else please verify whether the longer version http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=cf8544f0c3074395dfd89dd71a555b12 displays all of the photos as per the YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fM1oBDw08x4 My image links used to be eg. images/pic1.jpg. I changed them to ../images/pic1.jpg based on a forum post I read about a change to GE that was apparently made with GE6. I wonder if that could be the problem.

I go back and forth between AutoCAD and SketchUp all the time with no problems. Some suggestions: The cleaner your AutoCAD file the better it will open in SketchUp. I keep a AutoCAD file called To SketchUp that has essentially nothing in it (no blocks, no linetypes, meta data, etc.). I copy my geometry into that file then use Purge (extensively)and Overkill to get the file ready for SketchUp. SketchUp doesn't have arcs or circles so any line that intersects a circle will give you trouble. On the SketchUp side open the Entity Info panel and increase the chord count of the arcs to give you smoother lines. On the AutoCAD side I always extend any lines that intersect arcs several inches beyond the arc so I can trim them back in SketchUp. I hope something here helps.
