@Rich-O-Brien Thanks Rich. Now I know that I can share the link with Fredo6 on the Animator thread so he can download the file and look at it (to hopefully identify the problem I have been having trying to generate a video). You might also try generating an Animator video and see what results you get.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Arrg and I looked at that more than once so, you do the other direction.. FYI use the stray line and ThomThom's tools and apply multiple times. I had 9 areas I had to fix by hand, about a 3' effort and the face formed by itself!

My preference is a single 30" display with 2560x1600 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio for clear images and exceptional multitasking. [image: monitor-dell-u3011-overview3.jpg]

A remark: Don't forget to copy/save your path before convert it in a polyline. Because depending of your division, its aspect is going to be broken (as a polyline ) simon

Thanks very much for the input, have just completed a Mac update & SU models now opening OK without having to re-open. For the record my MacPro was relatively up to date - was not the normal combined Update only updates were Java, Safari & Remote Desktop (which I don't use). Much appreciate the input from SketchUcation.

That's OK - your post made me fix a minor issue with nested components... For the avoidance of doubt... The default punch-depth of 20"/500mm should suit most set ups. If you make it mush bigger it might clash with other things in the model. If you make it too small it might not punch right through thicker walls. The punched hole is either the punch depth OR to the inner face of the wall you are working on IF it is less or equal to the punch depth. If you have a range of walls 4/6/8/10/12/16" then a 20" setting will work for all of them, with no need to change anything. If you suddenly have a 'castle' with a wall that's ~40" thick you can change the setting temporarily to allow for that...

@al hart said: Thanks for these replies. I think my concern is trying to construct the path using the pencil tool. [attachment=0:vdpveofb]<!-- ia0 -->pipe-along-path.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:vdpveofb] I was able to use it here, where the path included an edge of a face. But it was fairly confusing trying to draw the path, because when I drew a line to the first corner of the face, and then clicked on the second corner, the line tool switched its prompt from "Enter End Point" to "Enter Start Point". Also, because the "path" touched a face, I couldn't double click or triple click on the path to select it to use with PipeAlongPath. I had to select the segments individually. I think my users would like to use the pencil tool to trace the path from beginning to end, and then convert it to something to be used for reporting. My 2dTools have ways of making lines/polylines/clines that follow picked points without pause - read my code and 'borrow' what you need.......

Ah well, it is not only "pretty" but was quite fast, too! (The moving of the letters up/down was an excellent trick, too).

Download Rhino and export a DXF or other file type SU will open. There are many other programs which can also do this, some of which do not cost money.

Thanks thomthom - that was it. I 'distort' each incidence of wood texture depending on where it is on the model to make it look correct. I didn't realize doing that would create a separate instance of the texture in the texture file. Live and learn.

@mhtaylor said: ...I can't get SU to take more than half the 8gb I have installed... LAA will not use as much RAM as you have on a 64 bit system just up to 4 Gb (and that seems to work for you). If LAA weren't there, it could only use 2 Gb (or with some hack, even on a 32 bit system, 3Gb but it may not be stable)

Thanks fossa, I looked his stuff up on the Internet and got some ideas, but I would have to build the texture I need from scratch, or buy his book (assuming that they are in there). One idea I got from looking at his images is that at the scale, and angle I require a view, that the use of a 2d pattern with a photo of shrub at a similar angle may work. If I place it 6" above the ground, I might even get a darkened edge. Don't know if I am getting paid enough for all that effort:-) But since when do I get paid enough>_<

There's a script called Dashed Lines at Smustard. I thought I purchased it, and was going to post an example but I don't see the plugin anywhere. Anyway, you might look into it and see if it would work for your situation. [edit] I knew I had dashedlines.rb! Here's an example of what it does. [image: JS8J_dashedlines.jpg]

It would be easier to understand the problems you are having if you post the file.

In that topic, where I posted those "fake" led lights, I was using Twilight Render which uses Kerkythea's rendering engine. So it should work the same in Kerkythea, too. Have you got a led pattern that you would like to display? (Note that it would be very slow rendering if you wanted to place individual lights there)
