Vertical images
-
Hey,
I have a problem. I don't know how to get the maximum resolution out of an image that will be printed on a large scale in a vertical way. Sketchup turns out to be oriented horizontaly primeraly. The print will be 165 centimeters high and 68,5 centimeters wide. I figured out that the maximum resolution I can get with V-Ray is about 9000 x 6000 pixels.
When I render the scene horizontaly, I get this result:
A lot of space is lost this way on the left and the right side. When I do it verticaly with the exact same scene in sketchup, I get this:
For some reason it zooms out a lot this way. I could zoom in before I render and adapt the field of view value but I don't think this is a very practical way of working. Also, by changing the field of view, my drawing changes.
This is what the scene looks like in sketchup:
Does anyone knows a solution to this problem? Many many thanks in advance!!!

As long as you don't require the horizon, and can somehow adjust the shadows, how about rotating the model on its side.

That's a good idea, but the light is good now and I think it will be very difficult to make it the same as it is now. But I thought of something else: I can tilt the camera/ view with the Ctrl key held down. It's not easy, but once I got it right I can make a scene out of it. Thanks anyway!

If a simple tilr would help, how about this plugin then?

That plugin comes in very handy! Thanks a lot Gaieus!!

If you set the aspect ratio in SU you can make VfSU match it. So you should be able to render a vertical view without the wasted pixels.
You can use my V-Ray Toys plugin to set the aspect ratio. (Ignore the stuff about the zoom - that's aimed for older V-Ray versions that needed some tweaking to make the views match.) -
Thanks a lot Thomthom! Your plugin have worked just fine!

Ah yeah, that's easy with some TT plugins...
