Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Well, maybe. If you go anywhere else than the home page, there are articles from TDC in the sidebar.

Hi Does anyone know if the stereo plugin works in 2 point perspective or if this is possible? I have have tried stereo_pan.rb which works great in a standard view but does not work in 2 point perspective - I assume there is some simple technical reason why this cannot happen but I have not yet thought of it. Thanks in advance Boothy

I think cloud computing shouldn't be overrated. @unknownuser said: Cloud computing is a model for on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (data storage, processing power). So already NASA's SETI project is cloud computing although it uses private computers spread over the whole world instead of datacenters. Also a VNC connection to a computing center running Windows Server is already cloud computing. Here, the apps run completely on the server and only the output is transferred to a thin client. Most people understand mostly web applications as cloud computing and expect better performance. I think that illusion is only because web apps are "simple" and have less features. Web apps use platform-independent, uncompiled Javascript code which has in general far less performance than compiled code (which only runs on a certain hardware platform and a certain operating system). As to the place where the application runs, I think that depends: Google Docs and GMail continue working even if you remove the network connection. In spreadsheets, you still have the full feature set of calculating, formatting, sorting and resizing cells. If you watch your CPU load, you'll see that such simple tasks in pure javascript are a bit more demanding than they would be in normal desktop applications. Ressource-intensive tasks (file format conversions, video processing, rendering etc.) and search requests are done by the server. On the other side, if everything was done on server side, people would ask to use such apps also when they don't have a network connection available. What I personally like is the platform-independence which allows to use any operating system you prefer, including operating systems that run equally on very old and new hardware. It's quite bizarre that we move towards slow, uncompiled code, but browsers continue improving performance (and modern browsers internally compile/optimize the code for the specific platform).

I've an ATI card and can confirm a poor relationship with SU A recent driver really screwed things up. It's not the most powerful card I use but my desktop runs a nVidia silky smooth. My issues are with selecting. The workspace flickers when making a selection, sometimes even blacking out until releasing mouse button. If anyone has suggestions I'd love to hear them also.

Dear David, The wheel of lines has no significance. The number of lines can be easily increased/decreased according to need, and making the angular spacing regular just helps with construction. The ensemble makes a compact symbol, and one could even label the lines if one wanted the extra clarity. This is done by double clicking on the end of each line with the Text tool. The lines are each 5 mm long, so the whole thing is quite small. It doesn't get in the way if it is locked and hidden. Saving it as a component for reuse might have benefits if one uses the same layer structure, although when I tried to import it into one model it complained and said that it couldn't import an empty component. Both the Layers and the Outliner tools need serious work. For example, there should be an update button so that one can make changes, and then hit update. Currently, changes are made as soon as one hits the return key. This can be quite irritating with big models (lots of groups and components) where one might want to edit contiguous entries in Outliner. The Entities dialogue box needs hitting with a hammer. Its tendency to autofill with script from a previous edit is enough to drive one mad. Rant over! Regards, Bob [image: OOBJ_Layerpurgecontrol.JPG]

Arrg and I looked at that more than once so, you do the other direction.. FYI use the stray line and ThomThom's tools and apply multiple times. I had 9 areas I had to fix by hand, about a 3' effort and the face formed by itself!

A remark: Don't forget to copy/save your path before convert it in a polyline. Because depending of your division, its aspect is going to be broken (as a polyline ) simon

Thanks very much for the input, have just completed a Mac update & SU models now opening OK without having to re-open. For the record my MacPro was relatively up to date - was not the normal combined Update only updates were Java, Safari & Remote Desktop (which I don't use). Much appreciate the input from SketchUcation.

That's OK - your post made me fix a minor issue with nested components... For the avoidance of doubt... The default punch-depth of 20"/500mm should suit most set ups. If you make it mush bigger it might clash with other things in the model. If you make it too small it might not punch right through thicker walls. The punched hole is either the punch depth OR to the inner face of the wall you are working on IF it is less or equal to the punch depth. If you have a range of walls 4/6/8/10/12/16" then a 20" setting will work for all of them, with no need to change anything. If you suddenly have a 'castle' with a wall that's ~40" thick you can change the setting temporarily to allow for that...

@al hart said: Thanks for these replies. I think my concern is trying to construct the path using the pencil tool. [attachment=0:vdpveofb]<!-- ia0 -->pipe-along-path.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:vdpveofb] I was able to use it here, where the path included an edge of a face. But it was fairly confusing trying to draw the path, because when I drew a line to the first corner of the face, and then clicked on the second corner, the line tool switched its prompt from "Enter End Point" to "Enter Start Point". Also, because the "path" touched a face, I couldn't double click or triple click on the path to select it to use with PipeAlongPath. I had to select the segments individually. I think my users would like to use the pencil tool to trace the path from beginning to end, and then convert it to something to be used for reporting. My 2dTools have ways of making lines/polylines/clines that follow picked points without pause - read my code and 'borrow' what you need.......

Download Rhino and export a DXF or other file type SU will open. There are many other programs which can also do this, some of which do not cost money.
