V8.0 is released https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=2Dtools Or via the ExtensionStore dialog. It fixes a glitch with v2026 whereby some MAC users could get the TAB key press/up to work to open dialogs in some tools, and some PC users had to press/up 4 times to make TAB work. <=2025 users had no issues. I've now improved the onKeyUp methods to optimize TAB use in v2026, but it can still be flaky for some users. including me ! So as an additional option one press/up on the Shift key will also open the dialogs in tools like LineStyle and Hatching. Please try and report back issues...

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

My PurgeAll script also allows you to control what is purged - unlike the Model Info version which purges everything. With my script if, for example you don't want to purge unused layers, you can choose not to... You can also get a report written showing what has been purged...

Hi folks. You can control this using Window menu --> Model Info --> Components. Check or uncheck the last box at the bottom that is labeled Show component axes. Just ideas.

To be honest, I was imagining simply two or more edges/ arcs in the scene, not necessarily overlapping any faces. As if one were starting a new model or something. So I learned something here, too.

The scene is no longer useful in v8. Your GPU handles textures and styles while 1 core of your CPU handles geometry. So you want a good reliable GPU and a CPU with a high clock speed. -Brodie

Could be that the graphic card doesn't handle multiple 3d applications. Can you have multiple SketchUp windows open? Some users report that they can't have more than a couple, or even just one, SketchUp window - this appear to be related to the graphic card capabilities. Have you tried temporarily disabling Hardware Acceleration in SU - just to verify it's a graphic card issue.

Ah, right, the push/pull command! I ended up drawing a simplified set of planes (like a bunch of playing cards glued together end to end, at different elevations) then push/pulling the road drawing through the ring of cards, and intersecting with model. Worked like a charm. I also downloaded Instant Roads. Going to try out the demo some time in the future. Thanks for the help everyone

@richardu said: You understood perfectly and answered my question and more. Thank you. I'll do without seeing the edges from the visible side. Richard Hidden lines can be set in a scene. Normally you export views from scenes. Save a scene from one side with the lines showing, and save a scene from the other side with the lines hidden.

One of the running jokes is the sofa that Dirk has to squeeze past every time he leaves his flat - it is jammed in just the kind of position you describe. One of my favorite Douglas Adams books.

Are they not trashed by your email system? Make sure to add @sketchucation.com to your trusted domains or whatever they are called (I promise we won't spam you more than once a month with those CatchUp Newsletters). Just FYI: you can usually expect an answer here in minutes but in a couple of hours, almost certainly.

@jmilton01 said: I am about to be contracted to model a large piece of flying machinery. Along with the model I will be providing schematics and interactive 3D environments so the mechanics can look at the way the engine is built or how the wing is assembled. This will be my first job doing this. I am fluent in most CAD softwares. However, I didn't know if some of you had any recommendations for which softwares to use with each other. For example, I was thinking about doing my modeling in Sketchup then using Inventor for my schematics. I'm not sure what to use so the end user (mechanic) can rotate the part and look at it or click a name in the bookmarks and the view change to that part, ect. All input is greatly appreciated. Edit: Hi josh. Would not really trust SU with precision. Inventor does stress tests as well ontop of what you stated. You could use SU to project a visualisation of what you intend to make. Quick and fast. Not sure how good SU pro exporters are since i use the free edition. Okay not really free since i had to pay over $1000 in plugins & renderers

Illustration/Artist -- I use it to generate 1, 2 and 3 point perspective reference imagery (for drawings and paintings)... often in conjunction with Maxwell (for photographic-type lighting reference). Best, Jason.

It could be extreme for a much more complex shape but SU should be able to handle that geometry on a relatively small model.
