Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

@box said: There can be various reasons for slow performance, from inefficient workflow to some flaw in the computer settings. Without seeing an example of your work we can only guess. A large file size doesn't always mean slow, I was working on a 415mb file only yesterday on a very low end laptop without any stutter. And I can create a 100kb file that will bring the best PC to it's knees. A model to look at would help us to understand if it is your workflow or your system that would benefit from some tweaking. Here's the model that I'm working on. Let me know if I can optimize it any more.

@pbacot said: I'm assuming you are doing 2d graphic export. You'll have to unsoften all the visible edges for the export of the view. Turn on "View/ hidden geometry". Use the soften/smooth edges dialog. Turn the slider down all the way. This worked!!! Thank you so much...

[quote="Deivis1992"] Do you always do that with more difficult shapes? It really depends on the final use of the model and how much detail I want. Sometimes just having the approximate dimensions and "eyeballing is fine".

Hi All - this course done by Eric Sargeant could be interesting in the context discussed here - it is worth seeing and reading in any case https://learn.sketchup.com/track/sketchup-landscape-site-design

SDMITCH! After searching for hours, I finally found your script and it does 90% of what I was looking for. Thank you so much!!! This is the closest thing I have found to a batch material import for 2019. I still have to save the skms back to the folder i want and then upload the collection, but bringing the images in into sketchup is the real timesuck.

no 2018, pretty poor that sketchups own "fix model" is what broke the file to a point where its completely gone... plus a driver update is as good of an answer and switching it off and on again, its the file not the computer thats the problem. broken file

It's not a bug. It's just the way SketchUp is designed to work. Personaly I've never found it a big problem or unproductive to enter radii instead of diameters. I'm fairly new to SketchUp though with only about 16 years under my belt. Pilou has provided some extensions that would help you out. FWIW, since you are using SketchUp for your business, you need to be using SketchUp Pro, not SketchUp Make as you have listed in your profile.

Your plants are in naturally dark areas of the room which would make them darker, increasing contrast may help but you have not told us what render program you use.

'Save as' sketchup file back to a version 8 file, then import to Max. In material editor, use eyedropper to bring up the multi-sub material in slate editor. you can then swap out/edit the materials. (I would recommend grouping your geometry in sketchup instead of loose geometry.) You can also export .3ds from sketchup and choose 'by material' under export options. Things with the same material will be grouped. You can follow same procedure and swap out materials. Of course in both cases you'll need to add a UVW modifier.

I don't believe Windowizer has been updated for a few years. You could try contacting the author at Smustard.com. As for being unsigned, that would only be an issue if you set extension loading permissions to the strictest setting.

@joelm3dm said: I don't know what you mean by "upper right icon" ... but I am talking only about the SKB icons. SKP should remain thumbnails. There is a registry tweak for this. Darn right there is a registry tweak for it. There's a reg tweak for everything on a Windows machine. It's really comparable to brain surgery, except on a computer it isn't guesswork, it's absolutely mathematical precision and guessing gets you a fouled machine. It's 2019 now and I have a similar problem, except my .skb files are the ones showing a small representation of the model as the icon, and my .skp files show the generic Sketchup icon. Want to swap that situation, and KNOW there's a fix, just don't have the same technical fortitude as I did back in the 90's to find the problem. Anyone know what the fix is? Not afraid of the registry, if that's what it takes, but not finding much insight from other users at the moment. And yes I'm averse to installing unnecessary third party browsers, etc, simply to view a thumbnail/icon as it should appear, when the problem can be fixed internally within Windows. Please complete your profile so we know your OS and SketchUp version. It looks like the "Solar North" tool's orange marker, which indicated where north is set in the model. It's an Extension available from the EWH... https://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/solar-north It has a Toolbar which allows you to set the angle, show/hide its marker etc... The orange marker looks unusually 'high'. If you switch on the Axes in View are they logically located ? If you have changed them, then hover over one and choose 'Reset Axes from the context-menu. It's normal to have the origin placed somewhere logical like at the model's lowest level, and on a corner... Probably best to switch all Layers ON and View>Hidden-Geometry On, then select all and move the model to the axes' origin...
