    • Thinking of our Majid today

With the unrest in Iran I am thinking of our friend, Majid, today. I hope that he and his family are safe as the situation unfolds.

    • RE: Thinking of our Majid today

I'm so glad you're okay, Majid! My heart goes out to all Iranians. I had the privilege of working with an Iranian architect who worked on many government (and large) projects prior to the overthrow of the Shah, who came to the US with nothing other than his family. He did not speak english and his daughter (who did) came in to translate for him when he interviewed. Everything he knew about construction (very little wood framing in Iran) went out the window and he had to learn a new language and a new way of construction. Through it all, he was the most humble, sweetest person I'd ever met - never being down about what they were going through (or at least showing it). So full of knowledge, too!! After a few years he obtained his architects license. I'm sorry to say that I just found out he passed in 2023 .. a true loss in the world. Best of luck for both you, Majid, and the people of Iran.

LA is known for being VERY slow (even before the fires), nit-picky, and sometimes downright unreasonable. Best of luck in getting the project(s) approved!

And privacy next to non-existent. I can see in a primary bedroom for the ensuite, but I see them being used for powder baths now, too. Yikes!

Popular now, but give it another 5 years and there will be a new "it" feature to work with.

The joists that the headers frame into normally will be doubled as well, or could be a single heavier (different) joist.

The call-outs for the operable sliding windows should be "XO" when the left panel is operable (as viewed from the outside) and "OX" when the right panel is operable. An "XOX" would have a fixed panel in the middle and each side panel would be operable.
