    • RE: DC Exploration 2 - Movement! (rotation, linear)

Wow, talk about being late to the party. You guys were messing with dynamic components way before I was even in diapers (SU diapers). 10 years since last post, huh?

In all the time you've had since then, has anyone figured out how to have an object move along an arc while maintaining a fixed attitude?

Another way to say the same thing would be that it needs to rotate around a fixed point, while not rotating. But I like the first way of saying it better. Any one know how to do this in dynamic components?

SJS66 If you want to see .skb thumbnails, icon overlay and default "open with" you have to edit few registry keys.

Is there an expert around that would be able to specify what those registry keys are?

I don't know what you mean by "upper right icon" ... but I am talking only about the SKB icons. SKP should remain thumbnails.

There is a registry tweak for this.

Darn right there is a registry tweak for it. There's a reg tweak for everything on a Windows machine. It's really comparable to brain surgery, except on a computer it isn't guesswork, it's absolutely mathematical precision and guessing gets you a fouled machine. It's 2019 now and I have a similar problem, except my .skb files are the ones showing a small representation of the model as the icon, and my .skp files show the generic Sketchup icon. Want to swap that situation, and KNOW there's a fix, just don't have the same technical fortitude as I did back in the 90's to find the problem. Anyone know what the fix is? Not afraid of the registry, if that's what it takes, but not finding much insight from other users at the moment. And yes I'm averse to installing unnecessary third party browsers, etc, simply to view a thumbnail/icon as it should appear, when the problem can be fixed internally within Windows.

    • RE: Chrome finish

Being at intermediate level now with Sketchup, and having spent most of February 7th now reading forums, viewing videos, and searching for a clue regarding applying a CHROME texture to items in Sketchup, is it safe to say this can not be done with Sketchup using native capabilities?
