Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

The panorama file output is a new option in the Renderer that I used - Brighter3D so I don't think the plugins would affect anything but I'll have a look-thanks.

I am setting up a folder under /documents so that it can be accessed from what ever version I am using. Do not want to lock it into any particular version. I have some materials set up that way as well. After some looking around, I think that strange color may have been in a component I inheritance from someone else.

@rogalxxx said: my try with su and fotosketcher. As a vray 3.6 user I got screwed by chaosgrop and now I can use my old su18 with vray or my new 2019 without it. I have a subscription plan until dec 2020. Can't really sell my 3.6 without paying for license transfer fee which is 100E. Either way, I'm ditching vray. Clients don't really appreciate the photorealism and the amount of work put into it. So I'm sticking with su+fotosketcher for now and starting experiment with blender, Hi hows the experimentation with blender going? I have exported a sketchup model (Colada.Dae into blender, worked perfectly including textures, nice! was feeling good........then thought I would give Evee a go............tumbleweed...............watched youtube tutorials........tumbleweed...... Was designed for smarter heads than mine I think. Could you perhaps give me a link to the tree you used in your drawing? They were what I was looking for. Oh for what it is worth, I found that putting in false construction lines and mixing in the "Fineliner pen" style made it look a lot more "sketchy" Cheers

If the text is all different components, you could use Subtract from either the native Solid Tools or better, Eneroth Solid Tools or you could create the text without extrusion and without fill. Place the components where you need them on the face.... [image: kRge_Screenshot-3_7_20197_48_35AM.png] ...and explode the text components. Then use Push/Pull to pull up the face surrounding the text leaving the text itself recessed. You would need to also hit inside the closed letters and numbers although you could use Joint Push/Pull if you wanted. [image: BBSE_Screenshot-3_7_20197_51_11AM.png]

I also think it is an interesting topic I am a structural technician and I have been using Sketchup for over ten years but it is not my primary Cad package this is due I think two reasons in the structural field one is the packages that are available like Revit, Advance steel, autocad and Solidworks these engines are design for engineering based drafting and it is hard for Sketchup to compete. Secondly I think it is down to cost, in the engineering Field there is a definite desire for companies to do the bear minimum when I comes to documentation to the point at some places draftsman are regarded as a necessary evil. Although I believe this is defiantly a false economy when you take into account the RFIs from site there is still the perception of increased profit. It is down to the presentation of the documents and this is were sketchup comes into its own especially details were you can easily build up a library details. If you look at the standard of Nick Sonders documents and Dave Zachary on the engineering side. I also do a lot of presentations on buildability issues of a project where sketchup Is a great at live presentations. I think other things you have to take into account are the job size, BIM and at what level, learning curve of staff, saying that I have use sketchup on some massive projects were it handle very large models as good if not better than some of the aforementioned. I should also mention on some of the larger projects I have worked on there is a perception that sketchup is only a free toy 3D package (until I put them straight)

@dave r said: I use the CutList extension and it reports the bottom level components only so there's no need to explode parent components at all. I do not need to report. I use the Assemblage plugin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GbwPRm7qxg

Happy to help. I was mostly using Outliner to show how deep I was going in to the nested component. As long as you don't need the material or already have it saved in a local collection, deleting the material from In Model is a great way to unpaint things no matter what the material is applied to. Sometimes I get models from other people that are so screwed up, deleting the materials is the easiest way to deal them.

@pixero said: Well...the most annoying thing is that they are trying to force us to go into subscription. Hiding away the permanent license where barely anyone can see it. If you've been keeping up with your annual maintenance and support, it doesn't matter because you would get the Classic license anyway. They've only added another option for new commercial SketchUp users to get into SketchUp. A few years before I retired from my last job I got a SketchUp Pro license to use at work. Due to the price and the way my employer's purchasing system was set up, I had to go through a process to get a purchase order created and an account established with Trimble before I could get the license. If the subscription option had been available I could have paid for it with my corporate credit card. Instead of taking several days and involving several different people in Purchasing (which added to the cost of the license) I could have had the license within a minute or two of completing the form on the SketchUp site and the corporate credit card bill would have been paid automatically.

Leftie here.. I don't see no special benefits (for lefties) in your concrete table. Consider using NumPad heavily. Don't hesitate to alter the shortcuts- it'd boost productivity over 9000%. In order to work on other PC just put preferences file on cloud.

@tig said: It's probably foobar ! Did SketchUp make a .skb backup file in the same folder ? If so, try to rename with .skp on the end and try opening that. If it opens it'll be one save behind. Also look for an AutoSave_FileName.skp file and see if that works... been a while since i've had to resort to using the skb file. thanks for the suggestion and refreshing my memory!

Float cursor on rotation point and use arrow keys to change orientation. Once you've found your desired orientation then left click & rotate as per normal.
