Whats your biggest SketchUp file?
-
I usually have SU files in the range of 100 to 800 MB.
Today I converted three plant models to SU and the SU file was 1.4 GB!
I managed to open it even though it took a while. What's your biggest SU file?
-
1.3 GB and it actually handled well.
-
For work related files the biggest so far 968 MB. Lots in the 100 - 400 MB range. They all handle fine as long as I don't do something dumb like trying to orbit with shadows on
. -
... my biggest one was "only" 195 MB so far
-
Problem is more have enough Ram memory for manage Undo for all these big ones (whithout count hundred of Plugins installed!

How much of that is textures? I'd be curious what those file sizes are in just geometry.
I'd probably have files that size if I didn't use proxies heavily in Enscape. For still rendering, I use Blender, so I don't typically have poly-heavy plants in my SU models. With textures, I use reduced resolution versions in SU as placeholders for export. I think the largest SU file I've ever worked with is under 200MB

Without the file on this PC I can only guess but I think the textures were rather small. Just some leafs and flower textures. Most of the size was geometry I believe.
This was the model by the way: https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d-spirea-model-1214293

Not many textures, but 10 different buildings on a vastly changing 4.71 acre site - 200 MB.
