The other issue I am a bit unclear on is the unbraced length (lu) especially in the case of checking negative moments in multi-span situations (unbraced bottom). I've checked a number of examples in Donald Breyer's book "Design of Wood Structures". Rather than considering the lu as the actual span he is calculating the lu as the distance between the points of zero moment. I could use a bit of clarification on this. Section 3.3.3.4 of the NDS (page 17) only talks about the distance between points of intermediate lateral support. After giving this some more thought and digging through the NDS a bit more I think the reason that Breyer makes this assumption is that the language in the NDS for computing the Cv (volume factor) does say the distance between points of zero moments. He then seems to extends this idea to computing the CL by using the same logic to determine the unbraced length (on both sides of a support). See example 6.28 in chapter 6.16. My only problem with this is that it would seem like it would be unconservative in many cases with multi-span beams where you are computing the CL for negative moments (at supports). However by using the full intermediate span length as the unbraced length perhaps it is too conservative. I wish the NDS would give more guidance on this matter, I can only guess at the intent and supposed correct algorithm at this point. Let's consider the example shown in the image below: [image: 1763861632918-eng_su110_800.jpg] If we consider that there is no lateral bracing at the intermediate support at 84" (bottom of beam) then per Breyer's method the unbraced length is between points of zero moment (x=67" to x=108"), so the unbraced length for the negative bending (neg. moment) is equal to 41". However I would argue that it is the full beam length, both spans, so 144". If we do consider that the beam is laterally braced (bottom of the beam) at the intermediate support at x = 84" then Breyer considers the worse case of the two conditions 84 - 67 = 17" and 108 - 84 = 24" and he concludes that the unbraced length should be 24". I would look at both spans on each side of the support or max. negative moment and take the larger of the two 84" > 60", so the unbraced length should be 84". Thoughts? Am I too conservative? On a slightly different note I would use 41" length to compute my Cv for the negative bending (for both cases given above). This is per the NDS verbage (Sec. 5.3.6). Did you change the number of segments in the corners from the model you shared? I used the geometry in your model and didn't make any changes other than fixing the location of the axes and moving the model to the origin. Out of curiosity what are you expecting for the outside diameter of the round part? What are the expected dimensions for the rectangular part? You say you want the walls to be 1.2 mm thick. If you are selecting 1.2 mm for the offset in your model, the walls will have practically no thickness.

Anyway, Curic 2 Level + Curic Copies (or S4U PickUp) does the same thing as this one. I use S4U PickUp cause is better than Curic Copies. And Curic Select++ does the same thing as Curic To Level, but still i find Curic To Level better.

@Rich-O-Brien thank you. The bolts tighten up enough for what these need to do but I probably should have extended the that side so I could complete the hex recess. I expect then I could tighten the knob enough to break the clamp.

Hello, Material Browser v1.1.1 is out Here what's new: You can precisely choose which sources to display: [image: 1763247282734-sketchup-2026-material-browser-plugin-v1.1.1-settings.webp] Interface is more reactive and more predictable (status bar). Source logos and material names are proportional to thumbnails. Plugin window can be resized to a smaller width and height. Poly Haven catalog has been extended to 713 textures. Texture downloading is more robust (3 attempts before giving up). On SketchUp open, toolbar position and visibility are restored. It shouldn't emit warnings when SketchUcation Tools is installed. Thanks to @judedouch and @ateliernab for their suggestions. Download latest Material Browser plugin from SketchUcation PluginStore.

Hardware wears out and software updates change things. When using old software that isn't being updated you need to look at the things that are changing.

@icorrea I don't think it has anything to do with the number of curves in your model. It's a fairly simple one. I agree with Rich. If you are having problems it's most likely the graphics card or its drivers. What version of SketchUp are you using? Share a screen shot of what you see. This is what I'm seeing. A few exposed back faces (blue) but no problem working in the model. [image: 1763125116883-glitching.gif]

Practically impossible to tell with so little information. What operating system are you using? How large is the bevel you are trying to make? Share the .skp file so we can see what you are working with. Have you tried it with the current version of SketchUp. Presumably you have a current SketchUp subscription so you can update to the current version of SketchUp at no charge.

@gullfo Hoi, nog een starter. House geinstalleerd en werkend. Enkel de optie genereer materiaaloverzicht niet. Die geeft aan: app kan niet worden geopnd, -50. Iemand een idee? [image: 1763099553018-schermafbeelding-2025-11-14-om-06.52.04.png]

hi Fredo, I find timer's possible reason. when I use the computer with old CPU (I7 4790), the video's time will be slow when you set 0.75 factor. however when I use the computer with relative new version CPU, the time will be normal.
