Nice idea, and thanks very much for the example. I'll try it. Thanks, Charlie.

Hi everyone, Chiming in here from the SketchUp team: it's very likely that the licenses in question here are not valid. A few folks on the forum have already mentioned the not-for-resale clause of SketchUp's end-user license agreement; to clarify, we can arrange for the transfer of a valid license upon request. However, in this case, we can't validate that they are valid SketchUp Pro licenses in the first place. I'm not saying at all that helinbak's intentions are malicious (in fact, his posts on this thread prove that he isn't), but I do want to give everyone a heads-up for when they see licenses like this in the future. If anyone has questions about these licenses or how to transfer a valid license, please use contact the SketchUp Pro sales team here: http://support.google.com/sketchup/bin/request.py?contact_type=sales Mark

Thanks for your replies guys, The 'make a component' resolution managed to do the trick although it was tricky getting the axes correct in order for the object to attach to the surface with the correct orientation. Thanks again. Ginger_Overlord

The tools on surface plugin can draw lines or construction lines and draws on curved surfaces. You might try that (I have not).

Thanks. It works. And it also works if I make the specific face a group (instead of a component).

A Pro 3d Export to DXF/DWG will keep the layering as in the SKP. The CAD files layer-colors should match the SKP's layer-colors The Scene tabs should also come over as Paperspace layout tabs in the DWG...

Then something of that plugin has remained there. Look again and make sure you have indeed removed it. Even remove (copy) all your plugins and start by adding the "know ones" back (and always restarting SU).

@brookefox said: Here I think the issue is that you don't hold ctrl down, just click it to engage the copy, then you can click a start point and input the distance. No, no, if that would be the case, the adjacent faces of these lines would be moved downwards as well. It happens to me quite often. I surely can say it's not the Ctrl key.. If i do the action described above and nothing happens, i can do it as often as i want to, it will just not do it- only by Ctrl+moving without typing the distance it snaps to the distance i typed in before (when it did not copy the lines). Maybe, as i assumed, it has to do with the same reason why SU does not cut faces even if it could / should / sometimes just doesn't.

UV_Toolkit by thomthom UV mapping automation: tries to fit the texture of the current material onto all quad-faces in the selection. The texture should fit once across the face, no tiling. Rotates the orientation of the textures on the quad-face, Transfers the material from one side of the face to the other. UV mapping will be mirrored. UVtools by D. Martens Sections: Edit ; Materials - Rendering Cylindrical and spherical mapping on surfaces. UV Projection by J. Sandstrom Can easily fix messed up UV's by projecting planar UVs on a selection in either X, Y or Z axis. Cylindrical UVtools may work best

@spookychick1013 said: I just came back here to post that I found turning off Hardware Acceleration and fast feedback cures the problem. It's not really a cure. The performance without Hardware Acceleration will be very poor. What it is is a confirmation that it is a graphic card issue. Either the driver or the graphic card itself. If you haven't done so already I'd recommend you update your graphic card drivers to the latest version. If that doesn't solve your issue it's quite likely that your graphic card doesn't fully support all the OpenGL features that SketchUp requires.

It may be a problem with IBooks Author rather than SketchUp. I've exported Collada models to a number of other heavyweight 3D programs without them changing orientation. Some model formats do use a different axis for 'up'. Models in the obj format, for example, are often to be found lying on their side. SU recognises this and has a setting to swap YZ axes on export. There's no such setting for Collada, because it's not thought to be needed. If the problem persists, then the easiest solution would probably be to make the model as usual, then on completion, but before dae export, right click one of the axes and select Move from the context menu. Then in the dialog box, experiment to see which combination of rotating 90Β° around the one or all of the axes gives you the result you want in iBooks Author. Once you've discovered the right combination of rotates, it ought to be just a matter of the same few mouse clicks for each model.

@charly2008 said: Hi, @unknownuser said: @matt that's already possible with tools on surface which tool in TOS are you using? arc on surface? if so, try using a simple line on surface.. click on the start point then the end point and that's it. be an arc) I Have tried it with the line but it does not work. I do not know if I did something wrong. I'm with you Charly. I've tried this before also and found that drawing an arc on surface with TOS makes the tool get confused especially if the curved face is totally not in view of the user... [ie: having to orbit the model to continue drawing.] I do like Rich's use of Curvishear though; that could be the way to do it.

Hi Dave, On a Windows system this is generally the sign of incompatible OpenGL support from the video card/driver. We usually test it by turning off hardware acceleration under Preferences (this is in the SketchUp menu on the Mac as I believe) > OpenGL settings. Now I understand that Macs work differently and your hardware support (video driver) is included in the OS (or something) and maybe you do not even have this option (?) Anyway, if you do, can you check if it seems to "fix" it?
