Perhaps I'm missing the intent of the original question, but, is the question about finding the coordinates of an existing object relative to the global or world ('all the world's a stage...') coordinate system? If it is, then why not use the query tool?

I use SketchUp on both platforms but much prefer it on the PC because the toolbars dock to the edges. Of course my Mac is a 15" MBP. When I connect it to a larger monitor it isn't so bad.

The file is the same, but the location is different. There is loads of threads with the same question. Put the .rb files in Mac HD - Library - App Support - Google Sketch Up 8 - Sketch Up - Plugins Or unzip the files in here to. [image: QxAn_Screenshot2012-03-12at14.38.19.png]

I guess FormFonts' business model is working. They've got some amazing stuff on there. But I bet there are a ton of folks like me who balk at such a high, yearly price and just move along, where as they'd jump on a much more affordable monthly option. I'm sure FormFont has done it's research and figured it's worth roping in one big spender over a handful of people who won't pay. Just a bummer for us folks who aren't professional modelers and can't justify needing that many models on such a regular basis.

Hi everyone, Chiming in here from the SketchUp team: it's very likely that the licenses in question here are not valid. A few folks on the forum have already mentioned the not-for-resale clause of SketchUp's end-user license agreement; to clarify, we can arrange for the transfer of a valid license upon request. However, in this case, we can't validate that they are valid SketchUp Pro licenses in the first place. If anyone has questions about these licenses or how to transfer a valid license, please use contact the SketchUp Pro sales team here: http://support.google.com/sketchup/bin/request.py?contact_type=sales Mark

Position/rotate, then intersect two or more suitable forms, and finally erase unwanted parts to leave the required 3d solid. Reverse/orient the object's faces so all of them look outwards consistently... Use a group/component for these to avoid raw geometry clashes/sticking whilst positioning/rotating etc. [Edit: Dave has now added an example to his earlier post...] If you have v8-Pro there are native 'Solid' tools to simplify the adding/subtracting/trimming etc of forms. There are also a couple of 'Boolean' scripts to do similar work for 'Free' - one is free [by Oscar?] the other is inexpensive [available via Smustard.com?]...

Sorry to get back at you so late; I've only seen your post just now. Regrettably, I cannot help you -I've never encountered the problem you're having. It might be useful to ask the devs over at the Podium forum.

thanks for the link, i was searching for this texture for so long! anyway, i would try to apply the texture to a V-Ray infinite plane, and not just a regular rectangle, as is seen in your image. EDIT: also you should follow the tip in this post (as the Texture/Environment options got rolled into one dropdown menu)

@unknownuser said: I* have my own little wish list for sketchup.. which involves things I really don't understand but would learn. Skinning and rigging of avatar like models*. Currently, sketchup is the red-headed step child for virtual world clothing and animation creation without those abilities. Now if there are plugins that do this, I have not found them. +1 I might even be able to teach you these things as I have plugins (and have used them!) that enables such things for using at the other place! (they were made specifically for the other place. Won't work for Nvo. ) I know there is a plugin for this somewhere, and I can't find it, and really don't think Sketchup should be a 'plugins operated program', especially for simple things as my next wish: I want "In Model" to be MY default Materials window thingy! So, maybe give us that option in our preferences? wonders why Google doesn't look at some of these plugins made for simple tasks and just implement them into the program. I'm pretty sure the developers make them for us who want ease of use, and probably wouldn't be offended if Google helped us get rid of plugin bloat by adding these simple tools. Hint hint.

Thanks TIG, I was able to reproduce what you did. With the central rail the shape seemed to flatten out to much at the point so I did one without the central rail and it looks better. Seems that the key is that all sections have the same number of segments and determining just how many segments are required to get a smooth surface. I will probably make a mold for this piece and make it out of fiberglass. Thanks, Larry [image: 0L0g_NewTailCone.JPG]
