@blackdogsketch said: ... It doesn't seem that YOU are doing it to reduce image export time. if it was too me... overall, you reduce the export time mainly by splitting out the shadows from the textures and any raster line work... here's a realtime export of a simple model... ignore the fact it's crammed so small for the gif, the shadows were 4000px wide, line work 2000 and 3000 texture 2000 ignore the plugin resizing the window, I just added my code in it to save some time coding... I also used a vivid background because I was doing all the post in code and it made it easier... but the principle is the same for manually making these... have x number of style and one scene per view... for each scene export an image, sized depending on the style... i.e. shadow style was biggest because I wanted the most control over it... @blackdogsketch said: So when I disable hardware acceleration, is the GPU still doing all the graphics export work? no, the rendering is then done in software by the CPU. Depending on the horsepower of the CPU this may not be much slower (or faster) than the GPU, especially in connection with integrated/shared low-end solutions like the intelHD series of many notebooks.

you have to use eraser tool+CTRL key. This softens+smooths edges instead of erasing them.

For anyone that is having this issue: Trimble team has responded to me that it is a known problem and it is on the list of things to be addressed. A work around I have found is as follows. After opening the file you intend to work on, open a second new session. Do not save the new session. If you want to work with a dynamic component, insert it into the unsaved file, make your adjustments, and copy/paste it into the model you are actually working on. Just leave that unsaved file open and do not save it and you can continue to use it for dc adjustments. Pain in the behind, but at least I can keep functioning while waiting for a real solution. I use dynamic windows in all my home models so I can't live without this feature. paul.

Thanks a lot Box and Dave, I unchecked the OpenGL, and it seems like my problem is solved! You're great guys. I promise to share the discoveries I've had in using Skethup like you to other people, so this community would become the most prosperous to its members.

An orthographic camera has no field of view unlike a perspective camera. So if you transition from a orthographic to a perspective the shift is because the field of view introduces depth to the scene. [image: 8WPW_ortho-pers.gif] If you transition back to orthographic from the perspective scene you'll see this increased as the camera removes the depth.

I started using SketchUp in 2001 or 2002 when I went to a ten week course in SketchUp and AutoCAD. I did all the beginner errors but slowly built my knowledge of the program. It's mostly been a pleasant journey but I still think it should have been developed more into a professional tool but I won't go into that here...

Perhaps you did get the axes moved slightly by mistake. If you want, send me the file and I'll have a look.

In the very end of things, I think SU should have a command to force making of a face among 4 or more points, even if it would have to create some hidden geometry - break it up to triangles, though I would prefer that it would force the 4 points into a coplanar position upon the user asking it to. Then, even with a non planar face, it should allow people to extrude out that face in some kind of user defined or automatically calculated direction (as a mean vector maybe of some geometry ending at those forced-coplanar points definig the face). All this to withing user defined tolerances, I think would work like a charm. As it is now, judging from the number of people running into this problem, it has people chasing their tails for no apparent gain due to perceived "good practices" in some programming paradigm.

I believe in coding -1 is returned when a match is not made the use of + seems to create a bug in the ruby side to DCs minus works, so a work around is to use a variable, being positive at first, then changing it to negative after the ruby script behind the scenes has accept it =2*current("leny")*2.54-val where the attribute val initially = 5, then change it to -5 after the first run this is probably only required if you were relying on the index for your calculations
