I've have two separate models now with this problem. I'm using the latest version of SU.

The model I'm currently working on is very simple. Granted it's a long corridor, but there's not much going on in it yet. After saving, closing, and re-opening one of the faces (a very large one) is gone. It's a pain to bring back each time. I've checked the file for errors and whatnot, and nothing turns up. Does anyone have any ideas?

the best idea is to upload the skp file...

Thank you, good point! I've edited my original post to include a link to the SKP file.

I can't easily find anything hidden, but suspect you are drawing on layers other than Layer0...

if it's drawn on a layer and grouped to another layer, it will disappear when either the drawing 'layer'
or the 'groups layer are toggled off...

it is easy to loose things that way, there are hundreds of threads about it...

Thanks John. I am aware of that issue though.

If I click "save" the face vanishes. When I CTRL+Z right after that, the face reappears.

              A. CTRL+Z shouldn't undo anything at that point, it's just a save, and you can't undo a save as far as I know in any program. So that's weird.
              B. How would an object being drawn or not being drawn on Layer 0 have that effect as a result of the save command?

This just started happening, I haven't been using SU very long, maybe a few years, so I'm not an expert by any means. But this isn't my first rodeo.

              Thanks for your help.

                Deanna,

I opened your file and poked at it. Changed the style to get rid of endpoints and that sort of thing. Then I saved it. No faces disappeared that I can tell. The only not great thing that I can see if there are reversed faces in some parts of the model.

The face is missing in the version of the model I uploaded.

I'm just going to scrap this guy and start over. I guess I'll keep everything on Layer 0 and see if that keeps it from happening.

Where is the missing face supposed to be? I could try putting it back and see what happens.

does it vanish with an 'save as' or with export, it's a bit tricky if we can't see what's vanishing...

what Layer was it on? was it in walls?

more ?'s than answers a.t.m, sorry...

Sorry for the late response. I got pulled into a project. The missing face is the roadway surface that runs fro the east side at the overpass to the roundabout on the West side and all the way up and down the the intersections. There are dashes (rectangular faces) running through the center of the roadway as well.

I had a chance to poke at it a little last night. It appears there are some edges which are a bit off plane. You might try projecting the edges onto a new flat plane using Projection or try running Flatten to Plane.
