@ntxdave OK, A lot of things to improve but here is my next mode. I plan on expanding this to include a glass object inside of the cage.[image: 1741557485329-box-practice-3.png]

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hello Charlie. Very nice work indeed. I remember seeing your unique joinery in Fine Woodworking not all that long ago. I was impressed then as I am now. Welcome to the group.

Guys I have split the selection bug off this thread and moved to the Bug Reports subfolder for better attention by the Google Team (and as was requested by Barry or Brad somewhere above). Here is the link to the new thread. I hope you don't mind...

Yet another great addon! I really like the Proximity script. Same kind of function I'm familiar with from 3DSMax. I love how SU can be extended so easily. Like Firefox, addons makes it such much more invaluable.

thanks guys, I was hoping it would be in the form of longside/shortside or somehow follow the first movement of the cursor, but x/y makes sense. It seems to be slightly more inconvenient when you are working in a view turned 90 degrees and the origin is not on the screen =D

I remember back in the days of AutoCAD 10....at work once I was so frustrated I pounded on the "ESC" key so hard I nearly shoved it through the keyboard. I wonder if you can train this software to to understand sarcasm. as in "Yeah that's right I wanted you to extrude the wall 10,000 feet... No really leave it there it looks fine. hehe. As if my wife did not think I was mental enough wait till she hears me talking to the computer. Soon enough two big guys with a nice white jacket with really long sleeves will be visiting me.

So brilliant and fast, thank you very much Tig this is the tool I needed. I do not like to look in the engine of my car, but your demonstration encourage me to do so. Merci beaucoup - Marc

@daniel said: Your welcome. Glad I could b helpful. Maybe that should be a request for the next version - a "change insertion point" option. I think so. As you way be can tell I have an extensive Acad background and I think that having the ability to set the insertion point at time of block/component creation would be a great asset. Thanks again for the assistance

@unknownuser said: does the 'drape-tool' also work on non-sandbox-surfaces? Only on triangulated surfaces. SU (natively) creates "simple" curved walls with parallely edged, coplanar rectangles - so the answer is no. Most of the other 3D programmes though make up every face of triangles so that can work. Some plugins (like the "Bezier Patch" or the "Soap Skin and Bubble") also make triangulated surfaces so the sandbox tools must work on them, too.

OK, so I've downloaded the trial version of the program, installed it and using it to convert some models to SKP format. Here is the thing. The model converts beautifully, but there are no textures to it. Completely white in SU. This makes the models I'm converting a lot less useful. The models I'm converting is some stuff I bought from 3Dplants.com - all nicely textured and such, but now they're pretty useless without textures. I tried importing them one by one and then converting them but even then some textures are lost and it seems that Deep Exploration does a better job at converting the geometry than SU does itself! Go figure... Please people, anybody with some advise, make yourself heard!

Here's a txt version of the "Introductory SketchUp Notes" I provide my students - these are the "default" shortcuts - you can easily change them to be whatever you want - there's also some additional information listed here as well - maybe this will help (& I hope I'm not infringing on any copyright laws by posting this): start To change units to decimal: Window --> Model Info --> Units --> Format --> Decimal --> (close the dialog box) To show toolbars: View --> Toolbars --> Getting Started View --> Toolbars --> Large Tool Set View --> Toolbars --> Views Note: Status Bar – the long gray rectangular area at the bottom of the drawing area Value Control Box – located on the right side of the status bar Must press Enter to have a value accepted Default Shortcuts: T = Tools --> Tape measure Space bar = Tools --> Select S = Tools --> Scale Q = Tools --> Rotate P = Tools --> Push/Pull B = Tools --> Paint Bucket F = Tools --> Offset M = Tools --> Move E = Tools --> Eraser CTRL + Z = Edit --> Undo CTRL + T = Edit --> Select None CTRL + A = Edit --> Select All CTRL + Y = Edit --> Redo CTRL + V = Edit --> Paste G = Edit --> Make Component Delete key = Edit --> Delete CTRL + X = Edit --> Cut CTRL + C = Edit --> Copy R = Draw --> Rectangle L = Draw --> Line C = Draw --> Circle A = Draw --> Arc Z = Camera --> Zoom H = Camera --> Pan O = Camera --> Orbit end
