Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

One reason for this could be a prevented autofold. Try to use the alt key while moving the vertex. edit: didn't see the second page, so Rich was faster

Note: Even running from a thumb drive, the SketchUp Viewer applet still writes into the CurrentUser Hive of the Windows Registry. %(#804000)[HKCU\\Software\\Google\\Viewer] Weirdly... the following key is created but never used: %(#804000)[HKCU\\Software\\Google\\SketchUpViewer8]

Hi Helmi, Do you know or use AutoCAD ? I did some short guideline on how to vectorize PDF -> AutoCAD -> SU - assuming that PDF has linework. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=45500 I was checking other options using Free Inkscape - from PNG directly to DXF R13 Result below... That's it. No reason why that shouldn't work. The lack of metric (just can't if everything keeps coming in feet and inches) is the reason for this. Since my plans are eventually in feet and inches I used to always refer to that. However in measuring buildings the notation becomes busy and sometimes gets confused. Typing feet and inches as input on a whole measure plan is also more tedious. Decimal inches is what I now use on my Disto and for marking, and laying out a plan, but if you can't check your work quickly, it adds another little task. I can always set the CAD to ft and in for dimensioning later. When I work with someone else who insists on measuring Ft. and inches, like I will today, I have to reset the disto and do it all long hand.

Select 'contours' >> 'COPY' >> 'Sanbox' from contours >> 'Edit' group >> 'Paste in Place' >> Select 'surface' between contours >> 'Cut' >> 'Undo' >> 'Undo' >> 'Undo' >> 'Paste in Place'.... Done use Undo to remove unwanted. +1 Using undo and paste in place is often the better solution ! Why not just select the surface between contours, copy, close group and erase, paste in place? why the undo's? Just take what you wanted and throw the rest away. I like the undo 'cause this way I'm sure there's not unused components in the file...It's not a problem here as the created terrain is a group, but It's an habit I have.

Thanks so much for that very clear explanation. It worked exactly as advertised. How to really modify component axes has been a mystery until now.

Hi all! We have been developing/testing primarily on Mountain Lion. We have done some testing on Lion, and have not seen huge issues, but we cannot guarantee that it will work 100% on Lion. As for the cursors (having the orbit or arrow cursor while drawing, for example), this is an issue in either version fo OS that we are working on. Please let me know, either in this topic or via PM what you think, or if you see any problems. Thanks! Aaron

@unknownuser said: it'll never be able to make it a solid object with Sketchup's native tools.. That's not really true, any shape can be made solid using nothing more than the line drawing tool. The trick is to think of the surface divided up into triangles (or quadrilaterals where you can make four coplanar edges)... [image: dfUS_ManualTriangulate.jpg] ...you can see here how I am adding a surface to the top of the uneven curve by simply drawing in triangles one at a time. Once they are all drawn in, you can use the eraser tool (with Ctrl held down) tool to smooth those lines into a continuous surface. The many skinning and lofting plugins available do make this a lot quicker and simpler, but doing it by hand can sometimes give more control over the triangulation so that the "undulations" of the resulting surface are as you would like - and doing a few manual ones will also give you a feel for how the "skinning" plugins works for a better understanding of the variables in their setup dialogues.
