    • How do I get this surface ready for ThruPaint?

      Hi

I'm working on a project at the moment and am using Thrupaint to position the texture. Can someone take a look at the file I attached and check what I'm doing wrong?

The component that already has the texture on it, I took the edges and used the create sandbox from contours tool to make the surface properly triangulated. That came close, as you can see, when I tried to paint it with Thrupaint. With the blank component, I tried repeating the process but it didn't work nearly as well - the texture was all over the place. Is there a better way for me to do this?

      Thanks

Cheers. Will definitely have a play around with Profile Builder. That looks extremely useful for a lot of things. Thanks

Cheers. Is there something else that would do this job better than Shape Bender?

    • Shape Bender producing weird geometry at angles

OK, so when I go to use Shape Bender, I'm having a few issues with the geometry it's producing. I'm working on a fence at the moment. When I run Shape Bender, the top part of my fence follows the curve nicely, while the bottom part just goes in a straight line, like this.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? I've tried softening some of the points on the path but that still produced the same result unfortunately. I've tried exploding the components inside of the group to no avail. I've attached the model as well.

      Thanks

Improved transparency when displaying a transparent texture on a transparent texture, as seen in this image with a fence over a tree. On the left is the sketchup display, and on the right is the exported 2d image. Comparison between Sketchup display (left) and sketchup 2d export (right)

Zoomed out it is worse - the texture behind simply disappears.Zoomed out

Thankyou. I had a feeling that might have been where my issue was. It will help a lot as I have fencing and everything to do and DC should speed the process up.

I've attached the kerb in action.

      Just a moment...

I've tried following this tutorial but my end product isn't quite right. I'm trying to make a component so that when I scale the component along a line it will duplicate the kerb component to be the right size. I'm having trouble explaining the issue that I am having with it so I attached the sketchup file. What am I doing wrong?

If you use Purge All with a shortcut, a purge is just one click away...

      It works wonders.

On the issue of purging, particularly when I have brought a model in from another application, it is possible to cut the file size in half. Speeds up saving and autosave times as well.

    • Making a component follow lines

Hi, I have a quick question.

I am trying to create a truss structure in the form of the fleur d'lys. I've traced over the edges I want the truss to follow, as seen in the attached image. I have the component of the truss structure. My question is - how would one go about making this truss component shape to the lines in the image? Is such a thing even possible, or does this need to be done manually from scratch?

I do apologise if this seems a moronic subject, but I can't help but think there must be a simpler way than doing it by scratch

    • RE: Mapping texture to a curve

Thanks everyone. Was still having trouble getting UVToolkit to remember and restore UV, but massimo posted the perfect plugin - 1 click and it worked. Was also probably benefited by the fact I already had the necessary shape. Thanks very much, as promised, the finished result
