What happened to Grant Marshall?
-
Maybe we could coax Grant back now that Trimble are the new owners?
-
Grant's site is active here, http://www.marshallarts.co.za/index.htm
I also attach an image of his email address. Hey, how about we start a 'Come Back Grant' thread here? If we can get enough folks requesting his return maybe he might consider visiting us occasionally?
So what do you think guys?

I think Dale "zippy" Stephens might wish he had found Mr. Marshall's site first so he could post the link in the Thread for Fine Design.
I recommend everyone visit his galleries. Just excellent work from a gifted designer/sculptor/architect/woodturner. -

A quote from good old wikipedia:
However, Zippy is distinctive not so much for his skull shape, or for any identifiable form of brain damage, but for his enthusiasm for philosophical non sequiturs ("All life is a blur of Republicans and meat!"), verbal free association, and the pursuit of popular culture ephemera. His wholehearted devotion to random artifacts satirizes the excesses of consumerism. Zippy's unpredictable behavior sometimes causes severe difficulty for others, but never for himself.And perhaps this quote pertains to A Thread for Fine Design:
unique among syndicated multi-panel dailies for its characteristics of literary nonsense, including a near-absence of either straightforward gags or continuous narrative,However, as for Mr Marshall, Agreed, really fine work, but his website doesn't work for me. Lots of broken links, and really slow. I'll drop him a line

I really don't know if Grant truly realizes how many people he inspired and pushed their work. I read his very first tutorial in which he gave away a lot of his super secrets, which he later pulled. When I read that technique, my whole approach changed in everything I was doing. It made me a better illustrator and gave my work purpose. I truly have lots to thank him for and would love to see him back here.

@Dale Stephens:
I am sorry, Dale. Your current avatar reminded me of Zippy the chimpanzee, a TV and children's book character from my childhood. I never meant to associate that other zippy.
You have my sincerest apologies. -

You have my sincerest apologies.Honestly,No offence taken, I actually got quite a kick out of the Wiki quotes especially the "His wholehearted devotion to random artifacts satirizes the excesses of consumerism" part.
Anyway Grant will get a good laugh I'm sure when he pops by. -
Guess we never got Grant interested?
