BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Hi taylorjl There is a 'Play Animation' action (right click on Scene Tab) with button Play, Pause or Stop. It would jump from Scene to Scene. You can even skip some Scenes from your animation sequence (right click on Scene Tab > Scene Manager > Include in Animation). Under Model Info > Animation > Transition you can adjust Scene Transition and Scene Delay. Set Scene Transition to 5 Set Scene Delay to 0 You will get 'smooth' animation. PS. You could install SketchUp Viewer for your 'Students' to be sure that they don't play too much with your model.

Yes - it is in the latest version of IRender nXt. We are still waiting for some client feedback - e.g. what additional lights or mirrors they would like. The trees are useful even without IRender nXt, since they make 2D trees with shadows in SketchUp, You can try the trees here: IRender Ready Trees [image: download?mid=9f5aa31dc3ee00ef6c134b68c36309b4&rtyp=st&ctyp=other&ts=1348625380000] Also, Rich has added the .exe to convert the 3D warehouse models to SU 6 or SU7 (as needed). (I see in another thread that some people are converting to SU 8 just so they can still use many SU8 only 3D Warehouse models) Also, we are adding the same 3D Warehouse browsing feature to SpaceDesign, for use by people who want to make it easy for people to download other collections into SketchUp.

Well, I've installed my new card and have been putting it thru it's paces all day, and I must say it has made a huge difference in SU's performance. No more sluggishness when moving the model around, shadows come on almost immediately, and everything in general seems to be snappier. Just so you know, this was my old card --- EVGA 01G-P3-1373-AR GeForce GTX 460 SuperClocked Video Card - 1024MB GDDR5, PCI-Express 2.0, Dual DVI, Mini HDMI, SLI, DirectX 11, Fermi w/Limited Lifetime Warranty with Registration and my new card --- EVGA 025-P3-1579-AR GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) HD 2560MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card In all fairness I must say that for some time now I've suspected my old card was getting tired, so the change may in large part just be due to having a new, fresh card in place. I'll probably never know for sure, but for now I'm very happy. Now if I could just put one of these babies in my laptop

Thanks TIG. I agree with the "right way" comment, but when you are bound by something, you are bound by it.

Used lighting makes the model flat. Like Rich said, I'd use some suitable studio HDR, like zbyg's HDRI packs 1-3. Also material do affect a lot. As model if fairly simple, you could try some sss material. If your model is sized 10-20 cm scale, you can use these 3D printing materials (just change color to your need and maybe extra coating layer if needed).

If the group hasn't been 'transformed' [rotated, scaled etc] then the inference will work 'externally'. However, if the group has been changed the inference won't work. You'll just have to draw some guide-lines...

Well if you want to go with busts modeling I think things are not that different, after all you still have to model a base geometry and then subdivide it . Some time ago I tried to replicate a human figure. It worked pretty nice but as I am not an artist I couldn't make it outstanding and it was a bit disproportionate too . For a start I think it is pretty cool . Also you can find there some of Solo's attempts which are much closer to reality than mine . Here's the link . Hope it helps ! Have a nice one !

I predict that SU9 will have noticeably new UI features. Did ya'll miss the import of a SketchUp "teamer" posting a "Show us your SketchUp UI layout" thread ??

I'm surprised it made it into the app store, but then Apple and Google aren't exactly pals anymore. Apple: Oops, how did that app get in there? Yeah...we must've missed that somehow.

Because you gave us no clues as to what should be there, here's my best guess... You've deleted a component major... but it's still in the Component Browser... Let's guess it's BLU_PHARMACY...[image: AL5a_Capture.PNG] To fix it just [re]insert the missing components back into the model. If that's not it... then do you have a SKB file - the auto-made previously-saved-version of this SKP. If so rename then you can it, with a new SKP file-extension, and open it in SketchUp, and look in it to see if what's missing is in this earlier saved version... If not then the only thing you can take away from all of this is to learn to make backup copies at every major turn... protect your data !

Hi guys, Please contact SketchUp Support for solutions to your single user network licensing issues. These changes were made in SU8m2, released last december- you may want to make sure you have the latest release installed as well- we're on SU8M4 now. john .

Wow, just two more posts and I hit the magic 1,000! (well, one more after I post this one) And in a couple of weeks it'll be my two-year anniversary here at Sketchucation. Seems strange that I've only been doing this for two years, seems like maybe ten.

Thanks, Shall consider Mountain Lion & run the suggested tests for Autosave. Normally do rename files etc but will be a little more diligent in the future! Much appreciate the level of input.

Hi Dave, hi folks. To avoid the problem of multiple images I choose the multi scenes skptutorial files. This means that I have to upload only one file. Just ideas.
