      Hi all,

      • I've set AA to 0x, 2x and 4x in sketchup with no noticeable difference in performance

      Help?

If my memory serves....there may be a tick box in the Nvidia control panel that allows "the application" to decide settings (SU).

      If so......give that a try.

Yeah, tried that, as well as forcing it to lower quality across the board in the nVidia panel.

        Some new findings:

If I start sketchup after a reboot, it works fine.

The second I start firefox, the lag sets in, and remains even after firefox is closed.

So.... Are there any resources that firefox uses that sketchup uses as well?

Is gpu acceleration enabled for firefox?
If yes, maybe try to disable it.

Switch OFF Firefox's Options > Advanced > 'Use hardware acceleration when available' - it causes all sorts of issues with FF if enabled anyway !

              And that fixes it.

              Thanks all.

Errr. it's back again, even after a fresh reboot.

I'm thinking it might be plugin related. With the new computer, I sought out updates and new plugins to try. If I delete my plugins folder and repair the sketchup install, it seems to be fine. Copy all the plugins back in and it's acting up again.

guess I have to install one at a time and see where it is.

Install 1/2 , if no problem you know it is in other 1/2, divide the 1/2 by 1/2 again keep repeating. Can take just a few tries to find trouble maker. BTW that is called a maximum entropy search. 🀣

If you have any of the new beta BIM tools loading try disabling them...
Otherwise, as recommended then doing it 'by halves' is the quick way to zoom in on the culprit[s]...

                      Binary search actually. πŸ€“

Its part of information theroy. Have you ever heard of Shannons. Becuase of coding and the confusion of symbols vs bits the community stated to note a different. You don't known what the probability of occurrence is but information on a particular guess is related to 1/p which means an occurrence happening that has low probability carries much more information than one with high probability and if you know that that one can structure the guess to max the information aka entropry and minimize the number of guesses one has to make. Therefore max entropy guess in general , binary search for a specific cases. Actually you are not correct. Only in the case all the probabilities are equal and is the reason I always use the general case.
