Has anyone heard, well, even a teenypeep/rumour about when we can expect (more like praying for) the next Sketchup incarnation?
No, Google never ever reveals the even a wee hint to when the next version arrives or what it contains.

Surelly after the end of the world of 2012!
-
Maybe we should set up a lottery. The closest guess date wins the prize money ..... then all we have the do is keep and eye out for what date John B guesses
-
Cunning!

SU 9 will be the same as SU 8 with somewhat improved performance and stability that none will notice at first. It will likely have a cool new feature that everyone will be crazy about and another 2 features that will be practically unusable or unpopular in the long run.
I don't don't think we have to worry ourselves with SU9 being too cool for us to handle.

Sketchup 9 top 3 new features:
- Strictly Single Core (SSC) : no need to buy a new system, a five years old single core cpu is enough to reveal sketchup's full power!
- new amazing and unbelievable Google Earth and Google Warehouse features that everyone is waiting for!
- more funky new display styles and improved style builder!
-
How about making it work on legacy hardware, like Intel 286/386/486/Pentium I or equivalent and 1 MB video card.
Now that would be a kicker. -
I hired a team of programmers and hackers to merge Sketchup, Skulptris, Moi/Rhino and V-Ray into one nice to work with streamlined application.
That way we will get ease of use, real curves, highest precision, procedural mesh modeling and stunning render quality in one package. I'm also inclined to integrate occlusion culling in the modeling window to help manage vast size architectural projects.
Also the emphasis will be on few tools and an intuitive interface.
I'm still looking for a name for this BEAST.
Maybe Raven 3D ?

I predict that SU9 will have noticeably new UI features.
Did ya'll miss the import of a SketchUp "teamer" posting a "Show us your SketchUp UI layout" thread ??
