    BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

    Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

    As far as I know, Sketchup has no relation to Active X, and has never had any relation to it, since the display language used is OpenGL for the program. There may be something else going on there. Probably can't hurt to check your graphics card website for updates. EDIT EDIT EDIT: My apologies. I must have been half asleep. Active X is a Windows operating system feature. I was thinking Direct X. Please disregard this whole reply.

    To draw edges between 2 curves (step 5)you could paste this into some Ruby code editor. Untested.. a=Sketchup.active_model;b=a.entities;c=a.selection;d={};c.grep(Sketchup;;Edge).each{|e|if cc = e.curve;next if d.has_key?(cc);d[cc] = cc.vertices.collect{|v| v.position };end};if d.length == 2;crvpt1 = d.values[0];crvpt2 = d.values[1];unless crvpt1.length == crvpt2.length;puts "unmatching points from curves";else;gps = b.add_group.entities;for i in (0...crvpt1.length);gps.add_edges(crvpt1[i], crvpt2[i]);end;end;else;puts "Select only 2 curves, please";end Edit: Compressed it to 1 line for pasting into Ruby consol..

    @rfox said: I was having an installation problem since the day i purchased, I use "regular" Windows 7 Ultimate. email the issue to them, got couple of feedbacks but it didn't seem help. I try to contact them several times....no respond.such a bad developer. at least they give me some good technical explanation regarding the issue. The problem was a know SketchUp problem regarding a dll conflict between Sketchup ruby standard library and zlib1.dll on your windows system. It toke us some time to figure this out because problems with SketchUp and/or the operating system aren't always easy to find and to solve because they have nothing to do with our code. In this case the problem was also not reproducible on our own windows system. When we found the problem and the solution I've send you a mail about the solution like it was logged in the Sketchup beta forum. The solution had nothing to do with our code. Apparently you were not able to solve the problem yourself. After your complain on sketchUcation we contacted you again to do a join.me session and solved your problem even it wasn't a Skalp problem at all. But we like to keep our customers happy. I hope you can now enjoy Skalp like it's meant to be. The Skalp Team.

    Cotty,where was that?(Edit-Obviously in the sight!) I made the edges coplanar, put it didn't closed. (Edit I have had another go on it, and it worked ...) I wonder sometimes, how can one achieve such a faulty model. Since there are some other open faces that won't close I would advice you to remodel the part entirely. Since it is a symmetric model, I would use follow me tool to recreate it. [image: DxRB_partneededbottomcleared-fixed.jpg]

    Fix problems tells me there are repeated edges, but nothing else. I fixed them. The splats are not frequent anymore. They are not regular enough to test plugins.

    @sellberg said: I also think you have slightly messed things up by when it is no longer possible to copy the old scripts through explorer and just run them. Sure, It is more maneageable on the small scale, but when you wanna install 20+ plugins or so it is not easier to install them one-by-one. You've missed a very important point. You can copy plugins for your old installation to SU2014. It isn't advised because Ruby 1.8 is no longer supported, SU2014 had to switch to Ruby 2.0 and a large number of plugins weren't written to meet the Ruby 2.0 standards. Simply copying from your old installation would have created many problems. It's easy to find examples here of people who did just blindly copy over plugins and then whinge about them not working. Ruby isn't an invention of Trimble nor of the SketchUp team so it isn't proper to lay the blame on them. I for one am happy for the Sketchucation Plugin Store and Extension Warehouse and Install Extension. They have reduced somewhat the number of posts from users who can't figure out how to install plugins or can't get their plugins to work because they installed them incorrectly. There's a number of us who have spent countless hours helping others to get plugins installed correctly. You can go back and look through the Plugins forum and easily find example after example. The problem hasn't been eliminated because there are still people who insist on installing plugins manually and can't manage to do it correctly, but it is fewer than it used to be.

    I've tried adjusting the options for the various formats but none of them come out looking too good. I've been messing around with Layout export options and the results actually seem worse than if I export directly from SU. It seems that SU tops out at maybe 200 dpi, but all the lines still appear pixelated. I would really like a 720 dpi image so that it conforms with my other graphic settings.

    Good luck animating something like that in Sketchup. One suggestion would be to animate it using section planes I suppose. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sQ-7dt95yw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khsFvyXLe-Q

    Not much I can say to that. Try it so shadows don't toggle off on transition. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was trying to close down the holes and fix it, only to run into that same problem again. Which basically lead me to redrawing those parts again, but it's fixed now. Thanks!

    I had this issue earlier this year, I found that by ridding Google from my life and my computer I was able to get the service back - I was getting odd error messages saying the service was not available for my region (NZ)

    @dave r said: That's not the fix that was outlined above. Read Norbert's post and follow up the link he posted. SU8 is no longer supported though so you might want to update anyway. Oh, I should have mentioned that in my previous post. I did ensure hardware acceleration was enabled under OpenGL as a first step. Just to close the loop for others' information, I upgraded from ver. 8.0.11752 to ver. 8.0.16846. The problem was fixed and our shared network licensing was not affected. Thanks for the help.
