Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Here is one solution using DC A cubic with two DC holes (cut2, includes the rim) As for scaling, one requires the insert point to be on the outside otherwise to hard to calculate, therefore place the surround with toggle to inner (smaller) size, place and scale to suit opening then use interact finger to toggle to outer. Cheers Philip PS another method using four cubic components, would be to join them without worrying about hidden lines/ faces. But to incorporate a outer shell/ explosion at some point when happy with the object created. Then one can use "cutlist" or other for material takeoff, as shown in some of my other posts. one can swap the childless component with its original if one need to amend it at some later point. It continues to reinforce that SU is capable in preparing construction documents. I haven't made the leap to SU for a complete set of con docs. When see stuff like this I really want to. The workflow and techniques are not all there yet for me. Anytime you can detail a set to this degree it will diminish onsite errors.

@xiombarg said: If you are going to tweak it anyway, you might want to use one of the ASIMO models in the 3D warehouse. The body has a similar build and you could model a new head if you need to. I was fixated on searching for the VGC and blew by the ASIMO models, thanks for the reminder. I'm using the internal mechanics from some open source humanoids like InMOOV (hands)and Intel's Jimmy (arms/legs), with the VGC head. Since the Tumblr pics available, it will give me a chance to try some of the photo to 3D modelling freeware out there now to start the head. Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry it took some time to get back to you. Thanks for the tips! It seems like it just takes time and practice, which is hard to stomach sometimes when you're on a deadline I'll keep at it

It isn't possible with the Section tool. You could make a cutting surface to cut through and intersect it with the model.

More on this: Here are examples of the same model and same sketchy line style exported at different sizes. [image: oFed_Massing1578.png] [image: z985_Massing3000.png] [image: IezB_Massing6000.png] Here's a comparison of the three. [image: jVYE_Massingcomparison.png] You'll see that there's more detail in the larger exports although the lines get thinner. You have to weigh out what you need to show and how. You can leverage this to get varying line weights in the same images as in this one: [image: 5IUk_AdirondackChairmarker.png] The styles I make always use the maximum number of stroke lengths and the maximum number of strokes per length so as to make it possible to get the most detail.

Any chance you'd share the SKP with me privately? We can see what it looks like on another machine.

I don't know what method you are using to transfer the files, but in some cases (e.g. FTP) you need to make sure that the file is designated to be binary. Otherwise the transfer may try to convert line ending characters between Windows, UNIX, and Mac conventions, and that will surely corrupt a binary file such as a skp.

@mac1 said: Sorry we will have to agree to disagree. I did some studies some time ago looking at MeshLab to address model simplification ref https://sites.google.com/site/sagesuwiki/tutorials/tips/meshlab#1+Meslab+Cleaning+and+Repairing+Filters.jpg?attredirects=0. Unfortunately there have been reformats by others than the author and all graphics appear lost. At the time there were issues with SU / dae and now Su is nearly 100% compliant to it and results should be better since that was required to import to it. MeshLab has a number of filters that can simplify the OP model, these are used in many other programs to form their basis of filters. It will be up to the OP to evaluate the various recommendations included herein and select the approach he / she feels best meets the needs at hand. The link I have shown shows some of the programs capability. If vertex tools has a simple solution why not show it so OP can compare? I should have been a little more gracious... sorry. And actually maybe this is what he's looking for. I get stuck in this mindset that everyone wants perfectly flat planes (because that's what I'm always looking for!), so I guess it depends what kind of results he wants and whether he wants to move in-between programs.

I figured this out!! This may help someone else ... You have to rightclick on the program icon, run as administrator, open the model, then claim credit. (This for those in the pc world)
