Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

If you were to make your parking-bay as a component that glues to a horizontal surface and cuts an opening then the z-fighting of the coincident faces will be avoided as the face below it will be removed automatically as the component is relocated... However, you would need to place those component-instances again - because they only get their glued-to-face when they are initially added to the model - unless of course you install and use a plugin that can 're-glue' these un-glued selected cutting-components [my HolePunch has such a utility]. Alternatively remember that Images do not z-fight when they are placed onto a surface - so an alternative is to get a simple Image of the carpark bay, edit the original component and erase the face, and then add the image into it, scaling it to the right size, tidy up any unneeded nested faces, edges etc, and now all instances of the parking-bay component should no longer z-fight when placed directly on top of another surface...

Sounds to me like the component might be glued to the mesh. Right click on the component, unglue.

I think it's worth repeating that 2014 has the new version of Ruby and while that has caused a few issues with a few plugins not working, new plugins are less likely to work with the older system. No doubt more and more we will see 'Requires SU2014 and up'.

Will these ebooks show me similar ways to make tufted sofas like Alvis? http://sketchucation.com/shop/books/intermediate/158-how-to-model-a-french-leather-armchair This book is by Alvis. So maybe.

Couldn't agree more... Specially if you're talking about BIM plugins! They are fast at modeling things that are not really how they are going to be built. I tell you how I feel: The best plugins around are the line tool, pushpull, the group and component, hole cutting components and all the abstract geometry plugins, like joint push pull, fredo scale, curviloft... Then there are those that really really make a difference now and then Section Cut Face being the top one along with edge tools divide face and inspect (I have high hopes on Skalp, but suspect it will make me model differently... I'll take a look at it when there's a trial). Nowadays you can't live without a render plugin too so I'd recommend Thea to everyone. All the other plugins facilitate your life so much you wouldn't consider living without them, but I must admit that every new install of sketchup, narrows my plugin list more and more, and I use more and more the native tools. The only ones that make me run away are the BIM kind of plugins. They make you design their way, not your way, but that's fair though, because for that you have Sketchup already!

Well this is not a direct answer to your question but is one that "could" solve your problem. I'm not much into animations, however, I read somewhere here of a plugin that can create a spline for animation path and can importa another spline as animation path. If that is indeed the case, you can generate the path for the first animation, then place it in the origin, and generate the new animation... I hope you're able to fix it and if you do, please share your solution. EDIT: Well there is a path for sure in Key animation, but I don know about generating a path from existing scenes. I don't even know if the Key animation path is actual geometry... Maybe you can speed up your animation recreation with it though... http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=320705#p320705 There are other animation plugins. Maybe one could do the trick. JQL

Thanks again for the help guys, much appreciated. SU should really but an Anti Liasing setting on the Mac version, so users don't have to hack at it in the Ruby Console.

It may be a nice solution but I think it's not a good start for a beginner to use DC in this case.

Also use separate components to contain the 'parts' - this helps avoid overlaid geometry sticking together where you don't want it to - e.g. in subsequent Moves etc...

I haven't seen it but then I keep all of my SU windows and toolbar on one screen and save the other one for other applications. I've heard of it when a second monitor has been used but then isn't.

A DWF file is a bit like an 'AutoCAD PDF' file, a format that allows others to view, review, or print design information – without these people needing to know AutoCAD or other design software, so no good in SU. I can only suggest saving the drawing as an earlier dxf or dwg format such as 2006 or Release 14 from within AutoCAD.

Hey, thanks for this guess and sorry for my late reply. Could not get the point of the proposed plug that quick.. Seems like this is not the right for this purpose? It helps keeping track of components and updates them from / to external libraries- right? Actually it does not seem to allow me to copy all of those components I'd like to (even if they are inside of some other groups) and keep the original place, so I can insert them into an seperate file? At least I couldn't find a similar explanation in the description and changelogs.. Am I right?

@krisidious said: If you're doing it in order to hide them more quickly, you can always use layers. You've got a good point. If you wear hat, though... Using layers to control visibility is better than Hide. Use Hide for temporarily getting things out of the way. Also, if you haven't done so, give the Outliner a thorough look and think about what it is showing you. Don't make the newbie mistake of making a group, drawing some more edges and faces, selecting them along with the group and making another group.
