What I left out of the mix is Apple's 'auto restore window' functionality... I think this can come into play if switching between models in the same session... I have no hard evidence of when or if this occurs, but it would explain some of the seemingly odd folders that pop up... Like many, I no longer use 'AutoSave' or 'Save Backup' and prefer 'Save Copy As' over 'Save As' and religiously use S... even with this I get caught out... john

I'm having a similar issue. I've been working on four individual SU files. They're all saved locally, in the same folder. Three of them work fine; the fourth, however, has been behaving basically as roland described above. The original file won't save, and it keeps creating backups in numbered sequence. The other three files don't do this, just the fourth. Anyone have any ideas why this would be happening to one file in particular? It's not much different than the other three. In fact, all four are essentially the same model with just about the same file size. Thanks for any help!

Thanks guys. Actually, with little information on the subject, I decided in the end to import from Zbrush. having the hands sculpted for the product ended up being much more realistic in the end (I think anyway). And, though still curious... it is not pressing as it was. So, again... thank you.

If the tubes happen to be components, edit any instance and remove all surfaces not to be painted. Or if the surfaces to be painted have a unique texture applied, then that could be used in the search to select only those faces.
