    • Select this and put it Here

I've spent the last couple of hours making notations on my Layout drawings. Incredibly tedious. In my drawings I'm trying to number individual cabinets. I've spent the time creating numbers surrounded by a square. My cabinet projects require 50 to 75 parts. It would be so much more efficient to have a tool to Select an item, mark the location on the drawing and click " Place this exactly here".

      Any creative thoughts out there??

    • Slow Layout analysis

I'm frustrated by how slow my Layout file is updating with new input. Would anyone care to take a look at my job file to advise me on how I could make my pages more efficient? I could send you the file and let you march around and see what is causing the slow regeneration.

I use an iMac with latest updated IOS see attached specs.

      thanks.

    • Sketchup to Layout references

A suggestion for those of us who have multiple SU files buried in Different Layout files. And those of use who's organizations skills are a bit lacking.

I would love to see a reference list for each SU file that tells me where I've put that particular file in a Layout file. It would be similar to the reverse feature that is already in the LO menu which is "Open with Sketchup" selection. That option is really helpful to get to the exact file you are using within LO.

If the reverse were available I would be able to identify which SU file I've used in different Layout files.

Any thoughts out there among the Wizard group?

      Thanks.

    • IMac Retina resolution issues with Sketchup 2017

I am have less than good results in Sketchup with my iMac Retina monitor with SU 2017. Lines are fuzzy and cartoon like (my words) and when I present to my clients I feel it's not taking advantage of my best work. I understand that the output is fine when it goes over to Layout. The lines are crisp and clear.
I find myself going back to 2016 version to do my work.
Of course I can't take advantage of features of 2017.

Anyone else have the same issues? And is there any fixes that the Kids at Sketchup are working on to correct the issue.

    • 3d model subscription resources

I'd like to get feedback from users (architects and interior designers in particular) as to whether it's worthwhile to subscribe to 3D model subscription resources and what resources they use. Sketchup's in house 3D warehouse vs. pay for use sites.

      Thanks

    • Appliance SKP files available from manufactures.

For those of you doing Kitchen and Bath Design and need accurate appliance drawings, many manufacturers are now including SKP files of their appliances. You no longer need to find one that's "close" or have to convert DWG files. For example Thermadore includes SKP drawings as a standard offering.
Here's an example: go to this site and then click on Manuals and Cad Files.

    • Section cut Face rbz

Unable to get SectionCut Face rbi to install.

Sketchup Pro 2016 on iMac 27"

I've Downloaded the Section Cut Face ruby and installed it in my Plugins folder. Rebooted Sketchup and can't seem to get it to work. It doesn't show up when I context click a new section.

      Does anyone have a solution?

    • RE: Sketchup 2014 Retina Macbook?

Could SU allow the color of the lines to be modified? I think that would at least help with seeing the lines. When I click on my line it turns blue, that blue is so close to the black line that it makes my head hurt. Red, orange ????

Perhaps someone could get that done at SU?

    • Retina display to fine to see

New Apple retina display and Sketchup Pro 2015

The pixel size and the lines in SU are too fine to see and in some cases have trouble snapping to references.
Is there a work around to help see the fine lines?

    • Layout Hybrid rendering inaccurately

I'm having rendering problems in Layout. When I render a drawing in Hybrid mode it shows different modeled items in what looks like a wireframe mode on some parts of the drawing. Not all Items get rendered in this "see thru" view but for the most part it seems ok. For example I've rendered a Plan View Scene that includes a bathtub brought in from 3D Warehouse. The Scene is originally saved in a Textured view. When the SU view is inserted into a LO page the tub is seen as if it's transparent and you see the lines that create the feet (for example) thru the body. I can't figure this out why it occurs. Anyone have a clue??

I can provide the LO and SU file if someone wants to check it out.
