@Rich-O-Brien Thanks Rich. Now I know that I can share the link with Fredo6 on the Animator thread so he can download the file and look at it (to hopefully identify the problem I have been having trying to generate a video). You might also try generating an Animator video and see what results you get.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

If this is a question about using Vray, you should have posted it there. Do you want me to move it?

For future Block that will not explode in Acad you have to go into block editor and bring up preferences and turn on the edit block check box.

@driven said: it sound like you use 'Align Axis' which is a temporary state by design... for a post import ruby fix, you need to clarify what file types you refer to as the vary greatly... john Maybe that would explain why I haven't ever seen the axes move on their own. If I want to change a component's axes location, I use Change Axes which is not temporary.

@cotty said: I'll try to be clearer, too (if a step in the SU-file is not clear, let me know...) how are you able to fill the intersected lines to get you from the non filled outline in step 3 of your model to the filled (gray) road in your step 4? thanks

@dave r said: Probably Jim's custom toolbars thing. yes sir, i can confirm they work the same i managed to export my custom toolbar 100% working across SU8/SU15/SU16 migration ~~but unfortunately i think if OP did'nt set Jim's custom toolbars in SU15 he may have nothing to copypaste in SU16.. maybe still a good idea to be ready for SU17 ~~ EDIT: i miss the post with the screenshot, so.. yes i can also confirm that: the buttons are from Jim's plugin. to migrate that successfully, you should copypaste (from '15 plugins folder to '16 plugin folder) the file toolbars.rb and the folder "toolbars" into the "toolbars" folder you can find the text files which actually control the toolbar creation/naming. hope this can help!

mmm.. not sure what you are trying to achieve.. that's very bad topology.. @cotty said: Why don't you use the good geometry (drop vertices) and apply the texture to it (e.g. thrupaint)? +1 on this.. i also would run quadface tools on it to mark out the diagonals of the pseudo-quads

Alternatively - if you don't want to color everything by layer [i.e. only some objects to get their layer's color], then you can use Ruby to get the layer of the selected object[s] and then get the layer.color, from that you can make a new material [named after the layer] using that color's RGB specification, and apply that new material onto the selected object[s]. By naming the material after the layer you can test if that material has been made previously, and reuse the existing material, rather than make a new material every time... I that's the requirement then I can easily post a code-snippet to do this...

@cuttingedge said: I have 3 cylinders , a cube and a 2 spheres which i want to perfectly align along the blue axis. I know the best way to do it is put the axis of each in the center then align them. Is there a plug in that does that in one click. I just cant snap to the axes to align manually. You don't need a plugin to place the axes at the center of components. Use Change axes from the Context menu. If you are going to use these shapes in future models, it makes sense to put the origin in a logical place to make insertion easy. Sam's plugin is handy but you really ought to know how to set up components so they'll be easy to align in models.
