    BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

    Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

    You won't get prompted to give the style a new name although that could be a nice new feature to request. It just appends a number to the style. I would suggest that you keep all of the style options ticked normally and only untick boxes for special cases.

    Thanks both of you for the prompt replies. Learnt something new from this as well . Anyway, I've "fixed" it by re-doing it at the desired scale, though from what you say slbaumgartner I could have just scaled up a component - oh well . Should at least go quicker & easier next time.

    Sketchup 2016 pro shadow error for utc +5:30

    What is the date set to and the latitude. If you haven't changed it, the latitude would be set to 40.018309N so the sun only rises at or before 5:30 AM between the third week April and the middle of August. I get shadows during that time.

    Not 100% sure yet but it appears that it may be the Extrude Tools extension. I can reproduce it every time I use that extension.

    No, there aren't Styles in ver 5 Baz. Can't find 'Guides' anywhere. say, can someone explain how I transfer all my old materials into this new SUp? I went to my old machine, SketchUp 5> Library, copied all the jpg and skm, then put them all in the new SketchUp 5> Library folder, restarted SUp but I don't see them.

    Kathryn, it may well be Autosave that's crashing LightUp... if it kicks in during any intensive process it can bring SU to it's knees... ⌘S is one of the best shortcuts to use religiously john

    All depends on what you got and what you want. If you are just trying to make flat surface that looks like a road, just make a face and push pull it up. Use one edge and an outline to use follow-me and add curb and gutter. If you want a crown in the road you can use follow me on a curve for the road ss well, but that road will have all one width, and intersections will require other work. Extrude edges by rails can help if your road needs a crown and is variable width, but intersections will still require a lot of work. If you want a realistically made road with proper grading these methods won't make it. You might try skinning progressive profile curves with extrusion tools or curviloft.
