try not doing all at once. just convert as you go, convert those that you really need and use. Once you got one mxm-material well done with arroway's images you can dupicate it and finetune again for each material. I have all arroway textures and only convert "on demand". its an endless job trying to do all at once. And when you're done Maxwell's material editor may change or update and you have to go through them all again. Francois

Hi Radgabaliyev, hi folks. You can model your leg at 90°. This shall simplify your life considerably. Then, when completed, rotate the leg to the required angle. If the top or bottom end or both needs to be horizontal, use cutting planes (circle, rectangles, whatever) correctly positionned and then intersect that plane with the leg. Delete unwanted geometry. Just ideas.

there might actually be a better or more proper way to do this but here's how i do it. go to 'list' then new.. (and i guess you could skip this step if you want to add the texture to an existing list.. i put all of my created textures in my personal list) [image: JEO4_screen2.jpg] i've named my list 'scf example'... with the brush tool active, hold down command and the cursor will turn into an eyedropper.. sample the new texture with the eyedropper and it will show up like: [image: 1b9s_screen3.jpg] drag the texture from the sample window into the palette.. [image: eX1H_screen4.jpg] upon quitting SU, the .skm will be created and available for future sessions.

@unknownuser said: Rebuild the DC so there is no naked geometry. I turned the "post" into a subcomponent that sets its LENZ to the parent LENZ. (Naked geometry in DCs is particularly dumb. When in doubt, make everything a subcomponent instead of faces and edges.) What about when you make cutout DC's? Then you need "naked" edges to make the cut.

That is not total hits, that was unique reigistered users. So being in the 100,00's of thousands is not possible, since we only have (nearly) 40,000. So 16,000 of those 40,000 have logged in this year. Plus that does not account for all the people who choose to hide their login status, and all the people with accounts but who do not take the time to log in. Chris

There may be some softened edges dividing the faces there. Turn on hidden geometry to check this out (View menu). Also, if the face bearing the texture is inside a group/component, you need to dig down to the face (edit the group).

It's not just a workaround (at least not just for this issue) but a very effective way to manage really big projects (that you may not even see "together" in SU at all but export to other apps). It's also an easy way to work on certain smaller elements when your model is already very cluttered with details. Or work on objects that would otherwise be off-axis all the time and it's easier to do this way then changing axes on the fly etc. etc...

Good post Joe and thanks for the link. I just got the SpacePilot Pro and your video was helpful as I'm still learning how to use it. I see you are going to post a review about that, so I'll watch for that too. The thing I like about the SpacePilot is the extra customizable buttons that can be programmed to Sketchup shortcuts.

Thanks, Richard. I was looking for something shy of 11 million results, but so far, not much. Perhaps it's time for me to try my hand.

When you import in SU you have an Options button in the file dialog. From there you must select the unit the imported file is it. SU does not detect the correct size.

Here's another broke example. It's a simple 4x4 Post with a single formula for the Z height. For me, it just snaps back to 48" no matter how I scale it. broke2.skp

And pay attention that holding ctrl will soften them, and holding shift will hide them. It is important to use the right key. I virtually always want them softened, not hidden, so I tend to only use ctrl. Chris

Draw a vertical plane face much bigger than you need. Draw a guide line from a corner of the shape onto the face - in the direct you want the projection. Copy the outermost edges of the shape and paste-in-place into a group [draw a temporary line to start that group]. Edit the group, select those edge lines and use ExtrudeEdgesByVector. Pick the guide line points from the shape's corner up to the face and beyond. You now have an extrusion piercing the face. Do some Intersecting to get the shape imprinted on the face and there you have the shape projected onto the face. Erase unwanted bits...
