@shudson said: Any tips for the best way to take two connected faces and put each on a different layer without creating them separately? Two faces touching at a point or sharing an edge or more. Double click on each face and group (or componentize), one after the other. Assign one of the groups to a different layer. The shared edge(s) goes with each face into the group. With both layers "visible" the appearance is no different, but they will not act like related geometry any longer.

There's no access to many aspects of 'materials' through the API or DCs. So 'projected' is not one of them... You do not need to project the texture on the cone. Indeed, you need to apply it as desired onto one face and then repeat the mapping around the remaining facets. As Gai says once made the material should 'scale' with the object... How would you 'normally' apply a material to any part of a DC ? Wouldn't you have it pre-applied to a cone which is then shown or not ? You can't apply/map a material in a DC [at least not without some arcane/convoluted new 'functions' being added to the DC, via Ruby and not native DC coding - which then means DC users need the .rb loaded too]...

@wind-borne said: Thanks, I had tried moving script between Screenshot and Finder section. tell application "sketchup" to activate needs to be tell application "SketchUp" to activate Works now. I was trying the " Watch Me Do" to automate pick window, didn't work how I tried. yeah.. watch me do doesn't work out as good as it seems.. super slow and whatnot.. i'm now messing around with the idea of getting the icon image via ruby instead of a screenshot or GUI scripting sketchup.. ruby confuses the hell out of me though ..i'll make a post in the developers forum real quick.. those guys will help me sort it out..

@arcad-uk said: Csaba, good tip, but I regularly hit "Delete Guides" to quickly clean up my drawing, can you stop the marks being deleted? Unfortunately, no. Even when you put them into locked groups, they are deleted. You can copy and "paste in place" your needed guides into an empty file though and when done with all the modelling, do the same to get them back.

@bkjernisted said: Is it possible to collapse vertices or points in Sketchup as you can in Cinema4d. Merge all selected vertices to a point? I added such a feature to Vertex Tools 1.1 which I will release soon. It also has a function to merge vertices within a given proximity of each other.

If you mean UV[re]mapping of textured materials, then there are several scripts to do this... Search the 'Plugins Index'...
