Make the common room shell Copy it twice Make one into the existing Make one into the proposed Group/Component each one Put each one on a separate layer COPY each so that they are on top of each other. Set up camera views/anims of/within the overlapped models and save the scene(s) as CAMERA ONLY SWITCH OFF the Proposed layer Export the scene(s) SWITCH ON the Proposed and OFF the Existing Export the scene(s) By making a copy of the existing and proposed component'd rooms you can continue to build/modify them and the overlapping ones will update accordingly. I do this all the time. Another way of using this method is to make all the individual component'd floors of a building and its roof, have them layed out NEXT to each other for ease of working on them but to ALSO have a copy of each stacked on top of each other as the building will appear. [image: kSAH_xx.jpg] As you can see I have Ground, First, Second, Third and roof all neatly layed out 40m apart co i can easily copy stuff between floors (Kitchens, furniture etc) but I also have them stacked for generating sections, testing service runs etc.

Please, refer to this topic in the plugin forum: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=35746 It explains how to install zipped plugins (which Shape Bender is, too). Then do not forget to also install progressbar.rb as the first post of the Shape Bender plugin instructs. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=18210

"That second tool is insane" If that got implemented in Sketchup, it would take all the "fun" out of building a model.

Welcome. @sfto1 said: I also hope to, at some point (maybe even soone) be as helpful to others as many of you have been to me. He he, I have similar hopes - but whoa, these guys are just so damned good! I often wonder how they found the time to model and program scripts so skillfully, when they also seem to always be here ready with the answers to all our problems - I am very concerned that Google/Trimble may be involved with some sort clandestine CAD-monkey cloning program!

Hi, There are a lot of free materials here (especially if you are using V-ray). As said, "Materials are made in V-ray, but you can use these textures in your favorite render engine as well. (Maxwell, Fry render, Arion, Brazil, or anything else…)

As Philip says. Once you attach a dimension to the object it will change dynamically as you scale, which I think is what you are asking for?

Hi, val: I have not a clue on this one. But, it may get more attention if you can re-post with a new topic title. Just use the same content. Sometimes these add on questions get lost. Just trying to help.

Actually, this is an addendum to my previous question which should be disregarded because I was able to install BezierSpline to the folder plugins in the macintosh HD. I am posting a new question to the BezierSpline forum because after installing I cannot find the new controls on Sketchup8. Thanks.

Hi folks. To get an inference for an endpointor a midpointor anything, if the inference engine is having trouble, most of the time a simple Orbitor Zoomwill help. In very crowded models, hiding obstrusive geometries also helps. To position an object between two points, draw a line between the two points. Use the midpoint inference to place the object and then delete the edge. Just ideas.

I found only these notes in the SketchUp manual about pre-processing photos: Do not crop photos. Match Photo currently requires that the point you aimed the camera at is located in the center of the image (also called the center of projection). Although it may seem possible to use a cropped image, typically vertical lines will not align well across a cropped image and the results will be unsatisfactory. Do not warp photos. Images which have been manually warped using an image processing program, or specialized camera, are not supported by Match Photo. Remove barrel distortion or issues where straight lines are bent away from the center of the image. Barrel distortion typically occurs on wide angle lens cameras. Use a third-party product to eliminate barrel distortion from images prior to using them within Match Photo. All cameras have a little bit of this distortion and it is typically worse around the edges of the image. Point 1 is the most repeated advice about Match Photo. Point 2, about warped photos, would seem to me to exclude using ShiftN. I can imagine using ShiftN to apply photo textures, but I presume its distortion of the photos will make them unsuitable for Match Photo. Point 3 is what I assume Thomthom was referring to by "lens distortion". This lens appears to be excellent in that respect. It is extremely hard to find any evidence of barrel distortion. But, as I reported earlier, I appear to have non-square pixels, the images as displayed are all a bit narrower than the model. If anyone has any experience with how to accurately test that aspect of a camera lens, I would appreciate any suggestions. I will probably be working out my own tests this coming weekend. I presume I will need a way to accurately identify the position of the center of the lens while the camera is on a tripod pointed at a flat surface that is exactly perpendicular to the camera's line of sight. Theory is easy. Construction still awaits a design. A brute-force approach would be to simply try different values for the adjustment until I find one that seems pretty good. But since it can take up to an hour of fussing and fiddling to reach what I consider my best compromise, that approach is guaranteed to take a few hours. Again, brilliant ideas are always welcome. Thanks, August
