@Mike-Amos The 2024 upgrade is the best one I've ever seen, normally they're just a nuisance but this one is worth the effort.

RE: Unable to import dxf files
@Glenn-at-home It's resolved now Glenn, apparently there's a new version of dxf that Sketchup doesn't like so I just reverted to .dwg file format and it's fine.

3D terrain scanning/point cloud import
Hello folks.
I think I'm a bit behind the times with how I do my land surveys for domestic gardens as I currently just use a Moasure, but I'd like to scan sites using a drone to create a 3D file that I can import in to Sketchup Pro - does anyone know where I should begin? I'm not sure what hardware or software I need, the only one I've seen work with Revit only and involves lots of other steps before you can import it. I've previously scanned a small area by hand using an ipad which then allowed me to import it directly into Sketchup, but I'm starting to be more involved in gardens covering an acre or two so I want to make it as efficient as possible. All guidance welcomed because I'm cluelss π«€

RE: Make Unique Texture giving weird results

Are you using the the Yellow pin to skew the image?
That's UVW mapping which is not the same as your regular UV mapping which is purely 2D.
If you skew an image in SketchUp you can introduce additional UV points so a plane with 4 verts could have 5 points when you view the UVs.
Hopefully this shows what I mean. I think if this type of mapping is where the issue may lie.
Either its the new engine thats flaky or the destination app does not support UVW mapping.
I could be wrong.....it has happened before....many many times.
I don't use the coloured pins, I used the non "fixed pins". I think I understand how the UV mapping might get messed up when I first make the adjustments, but once the image is in place I simply "Make texture unique" and that used to resolve the issue.

RE: Make Unique Texture giving weird results
I've tried taking the original photos on different devices, both apple and android (HEIC has to be turned off for Apple pics to be useable, but they still deform)

still persists with the new graphics engine only.
What graphics card are you using? What OS?
Nvidia RTX4090
Studio Driver 576.02 (although I've tried Game drivers and older Studio drivers too)

RE: Make Unique Texture giving weird results
I'm re-igniting this thread because even though I've upgraded my PC, moved onto SU2025 and switched from Enscape to D5, this problem of contorted textures from images imported into Sketchup still persists with the new graphics engine only. I've upgraded all that other stuff I mentioned but I'm having to use the old graphics engine - is nobody else having this issue? It only happens when I import an image as a texture (eg the side of a building) and then "position" the texture using NON-fixed pins to correct perspective distortion.

Thank you. Basic error on my part π«€

SU2025 and 3DConnexion 'spacemouse'
Is there an issue regarding compatibility between these two? My spacemouse only appears to zoom in/out in 2025 whereas in 2024 I have full functionality.

RE: Make Unique Texture giving weird results
@Dave-R It happens on every single model though. If I use the pins to stretch an image to fit a flat surface in Sketchup where it looks fine, I then look at it in a render software (I've had this in 3 renderers so far) and it's a mess, so I found that by making the material unique it resolved the issue in all softwares - that is until I use the new graphics engine.

@grizzler That's a beast of a card
I needed to upgrade from my old 3060Ti (good card but lacks vram), so I deliberated for a week whether to get the 4080 or 4090 and in a moment of madness I just went for it

@Dave-R RTX 4090, so that should cope with anything.
