sdmitch! I finally got it right.. I had some tips from googling. one way I did it was that just get a circle and put the face perpendicularly to mid point of one of circle's segment so basically you are right...but I couldn't do yours right thanx anyway I know you got several way to solve this followme issue but just for reference ..check the url below if you want! (the last reply) https://forums.sketchup.com/t/follow-me-around-curved-path/4962/4 I did leave a comment earlier but it didn't show up yet I guess....weird Thanx again! sdmitch!

@quadse7en said: this is the errors i get. i right clicked to install with same result. im on a lenovo desktop windows 10 intel core i3. attached is a screenshot of the errors. i dont know how to get opengl at least for my computer or which one i need. the main reason i am doing the update to 17 is for the joint pushpull and round corners by fredo6 If you have installed SketchUp using 'Run as administrator' and are still getting this issue then your Graphics Card is suspect. To find your GC details... Open Control Panel > Device Manager Find the 'Display adapters' entry and expand it. Your GC details should be shown. Right-click on that entry and select 'Update Driver Software...' When prompted let Windows search the www for the latest driver. SketchUp v2017 needs OpenGLv3.0 or higher - most now offer 4.0. Some GCs are known to be robust [e.g. most Nvidias], a few are flaky [some Intel/Radeon] and need therefore special attention... If updating the GC's driver doesn't improve things, then post the full details of the GC so we can see if anyone has a fix... Incidentally I think most of Fredo's extensions work in v2015 ?

Ive been asking this question in the forum as I am fascinated with Pop-up cards and books, but I haven't got answers. Hope some creative genius will look into this... https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15%26amp;t=67810

Michelle, more questions are certainly OK. You're right. It is sometimes unavoidable that faces get split. When they do, however, that is your clue that the outer edges are no longer planar. If you were to build the structure with a plywood skin, you could probably torture the plywood a little, bending it to screw down the perimeter but it would be stressed that way. Obviously if you carry that too far you'll either break something or have to divide the panel into smaller pieces. In SketchUp a face must be flat. There's no bending a single face as you could with plywood. As far as fixing the broken faces, you can move edges and vertices if needed to return the edges to planarity. [image: k4QO_flat.gif] It might be in some cases better to rotate some of the edges about the hidden edge is the right thing. You could also trim to intersecting faces as in your second screen shot. In your last one, you can't make that shape without the triangles because the edges aren't in the same plane. This shape is similar to a boat hull. If you look at plywood hulls, they are developed from multiple planks. There is some bending and twisting that each plank can tolerate and when it's all assembled, the hull is very strong but there is a limit to how much bending you can put in. Thus the need for multiple planks. Again, in SketchUp all edges must be in the same plane to get a face between them. It shouldn't create any problems for you, though. You could use a different program that uses NURBS for modeling. You'll not be working with flat faces as in SketchUp but it won't give you a good representation of your plywood-skinned structures.

@paul russam said: If you’re looking to have your models viewable on a web page then you might want to look at SketchFab, here’s a link to models I’ve uploaded https://sketchfab.com/dma-ni/models and here’s one in action on a page https://www.dma-ni.com/dma_projects/dma_view_proj/maghereagh-kilkerley-dundalk (click the ‘view in 3d’ button) Yes, I have some test models out there also. It is a good product but I am looking for a little more flexibility than what it does (at least currently). I have been testing SimLab Composer. I like it because of the following features: Allows me to host the pages on my own server (not tied to their portal) Allows me to add a fair amount of interactivity to the model and the web page: Animation of both scenes and geometry Links to display annotations (they call them message boxes), URLs, change object materials, and show/hide objects. These items can be achieved with both links within the model or via links on the web page itself. Pretty powerful stuff IMO.

Method 3 somewhat follows the line of reasoning of method 2 create rectangle 900x50 and pushpull it 100mm, make it a group "middle" create 45deg wedges either end, groups "bottom mitre", "top mitre" [image: HWhF_Capture.PNG] make it a group called "side" and create the relationship / formulas, again I used parent as I intend to copy and make unique sides [image: Bhdf_Capture2.PNG] now hide the joining geometry and group, this then in formation should be similar to the side in method 2, but mitered rather than over lap [image: ZRcJ_Capture3.PNG] do the rotate @ 500mm as before, copy(control) *3 [image: 1mqW_Capture4.PNG] change the group instance name in both model info and the attribute dialog [image: 5gus_Capture5.PNG] it is important to confirm that the groups are unique (changing the instance name or position may not create separate definitions (the copies initially share the same definition, that relationship needs to be broken) so pair each one and right click make unique [image: 7MVQ_Capture6.PNG] now make all the unique sides a component, "frame3" fill in the relational formulas [image: 9K6o_Capture7.PNG] completed example attached frame 3.skp

Did you try Blender to import it? 1GB is a big ask for any app. But Blender might be able to better segment it to export more manageable chunks. Is the 1GB purely mesh data or mesh and texture data?

@sjotcher said: I am using SU 2016 pro... for evaluating if the issue is caused by a faulty OpenGL support of the used graphics card driver, disable in SU v2016 "Window > Preferences > OpenGL > Use Hardware Acceleration", close/launch SU and print again. If everything fine than the graphics card driver is causing the issue. If the recent driver version doesn't fix the problem, swapping to a recent GeForce GTX 1050Ti/1060 (or better) might be opportune. Norbert

Jerry, Perhaps creating a railing set at a mean ° that you can scale using FredoScale(free plug-in): "Box Planar Shearing" would be a solution?.(see .skp below) This method will maintain all vertical rail parts 100%, and only slightly alter the raked parts as long you are scaling ± within a few degrees of the mean° default rail set. I used "target mode" while having "Box Planar Shearing" selected to alter the mean°(38.5°) rail set to parallel the new stair set(37.8°). It will take a little practice to get used to FredoScale, but just experiment and see if it suits your needs. Best Regards, Charlie sketchup railing_38.5.skp

im pretty sure I purged all the unused (could of missed something though) - I did the model info purge and also used thom Thoms plugin to ease a little more out texture wise I used those preloaded on sketchup and a few from https://www.sketchuptextureclub.com (I did rotate a few textures as they looked a little odd in their current position - I don't know if that of made a difference) I don't know what the average persons model size is - I never thought that a 16mb sketchup file was considered to be large but obviously I'm very wrong (though I would of thought that the mobile viewer would of been able to handle at least 20mb models well - I hope Trimble will release a version in the future that will be able to do so. Thank you Dave, that is terribly kind of you - did you private message me details ? - I'll check now

actually, my sketchup pro 2017 (v17.0.18899) was working properly, without any problem! I just Uninstall and reinstall it again (v17.2.2555) and this problem appeared!. I read and do many many things such as checking my local and language option but everything was ok! so last night just uninstall the sketchup (v17.2.2555) and install the version ([highlight=#ffff80:2wtf7s7m]v17.0.18899[/highlight:2wtf7s7m]), and without any change to my regional and language Option everything is fine.

Philip, I tried the solution you posted above, but ended up using 2 AnimateSlow on a single onClick. I didn't know one could use the semicolon to have double results from one onClick function: [image: KpTO_RevolvingandSlidingDoor.gif]

I think you will have to run a script to turn the VRay materials into standard materials because when you export to OBJ it will not recognize the VRay maps.
