I am wanting to be able to rotate a section of railing to varying degrees of slope. i.e., 35 deg, 42 deg etc. Is there a simple way of doing this without editing and rotating all the individual pieces (components)? Basically, I want the horizontal pieces to rotate and the verticals to stay put.

I could probably be done as a Dynamic Component. How often would you use something like that? It wouldn't be very difficult to set out the parts manually after deciding on the angle.

Dave, this can change quite a bit. I use this particular style (warehouse) for decks and porches. The rise and run (which changes the degree angle) can change even on the same plan, so it would be nice to not have to draw the pieces all the time. I'm not to much on dynamic components but I might try playing around with them.

Jerry, with just the native tools there isn't any way to change the angle and keep the spindles vertical. You might look at Profile builder but I'm not certain if it could handle that. Drawing it manually would be trivial with components you've already made if you set the insertion points correctly.

You can look at ValiArchitects Intant Fence and Rail. For accuracy it may not match your own "manual" modeling but often works for a good appearance. Certainly a great time saver for larger sites and a lot of ramps and railing.

                Jerry,
Perhaps creating a railing set at a mean ° that you can scale using FredoScale(free plug-in): "Box Planar Shearing" would be a solution?.(see .skp below)

This method will maintain all vertical rail parts 100%, and only slightly alter the raked parts as long you are scaling ± within a few degrees of the mean° default rail set.

I used "target mode" while having "Box Planar Shearing" selected to alter the mean°(38.5°) rail set to parallel the new stair set(37.8°).

It will take a little practice to get used to FredoScale, but just experiment and see if it suits your needs.

                Best Regards,
                Charlie
