Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

thank you - this good news is encouraging. I too am dependent on an IT department with my company´s notebook. Due to also Corona-related many much much more important issues these people have to master, my concern was not important enough so far. Since the update to SU 2022 is coming up soon, I will keep an eye on this topic. Anyway, I share tig's comment from above @tig said: BUT surely this can be fixed 'properly' by 'the powers that be' at Trimble ??

Thanks TIG. Yes, it was a copy and paste job and I know that's not the way you're supposed to do it. I did find the culprit and it wasn't a plugin but operator error. I had checked off "Replace Push/Pull Tool" in SUbD Preferences last night. All back to normal now. I guess if anyone has the same issue they can find it here now. Now I have to fix (rearrange) the tool bar mess I created. [image: xjoO_SUbD-Preferences.jpg]

@dave r said: Each version of SketchUp installs as a separate program. It doesn't overwrite the previous version. When I migrate to a new version I make a screen shot of the previous version showing my toolbar arrangement. Then I import that image into the new one to use as a reference for placing my toolbars. Makes it easier to see what goes where. I also use it as a time to do some cleaning to get rid of tools I don't really need on my toolbars. I understand and that is what I do. However even though I am fairly proficient with SU Prro it really puts me off updating my software. Needs a rethink.

Installed SU 2022 and everything went smoothly. Copied my SU 2021 plugins and only had to re-enter my Medeek licenses. Everything else is working fine with what I checked so far: Profile Builder 3, Thea Render; Instant Architect; Cloth Works; Medeek Wall, Foundation and Truss; and Skatter 2. Seems a little faster. The Tag tool is really handy to change objects, groups or components to the tag your currently set on and works like a "magic wand."

Thank you for the compliment. What I do is not at all difficult with the right tools. Like anything else in SketchUp life you just have to learn how to do it. There is the EP Fasteners extension that will make screw threads. I prefer my process because I think I get nicer screw threads. For a program that was intended for architectural modeling, I think there are good options for modeling screw threads already.

@derek edison said: Export the model to DAE to get the texture. It appears that it's the same texture for both colors so just double click the tag color in the Tag tray to get the RGB values for each color. Now that was a quick resolution. Thank you! Exporting to dae and importing it back allowed me to pick the paint with the eyedropper.

@spreadcore said: Yes, I am. I don't particularly like using programs that I have to be online to use. So I don't use the newest ver. SketchUp 8 works just fine for the little stuff I do. Since you are a hobbyist you could use SketchUp 2017 Make. You don't have to be online to use it.

Thanks to Fletch! Fletch:If it were me, I would render with exact studio lighting I wanted to make my object look best, then render the Alpha Mask and photoshop the sky image background in post-pro. I used this composting method and it worked great. Here was a quick test, I need to make some tweaks. But it worked well Thanks! Probably so. I have been learning/working with animated textures in Twilight Render. Since Animator works with TR, I was thinking about how neat it would be to combine the features of the two pieces of software. Could almost be a competitor to things like Twinmotion and Enscape. Was just thinking (LOL) Maybe it is time to go back to being retired.

My workflow in SU2018 with the advice you and TIG suggest is followed but I leave it to ThomThom's cleanup tool to move everything to layer0 When I'm happy with it.

@box said: Two of these are a texture made by exporting a 2d image png with transparent background. Can you tell which is the real one? It's all a bit furry in the screengrab. [attachment=0:j019fl3y]<!-- ia0 -->Screenshot 2022-01-11 093640.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:j019fl3y] Up close you can see the difference, but it all depends what you want to do with the model and how much real detail you need. Thanks Box. I think I see what you're getting at. Expectation is to build a quality visual model for client and then going into layout and creating fabrication prints of the panel(s) for the laser shop. Nic

Making sure the width and height are divisible by 4 seems to work for me.
